Ethics Week 14 – 15: BIRTH
Why abortion was being moralized and politicized?
Some argue that abortion is murder, while others argue that it is only a fetus.
Abortion is a criminal act, and as a result, millions of babies die before they can
show the world how lovely they are. It also takes the lives of vulnerable, innocent
children, particularly in nations where abortion is legal. A child is a symbol of life,
hope and is a biggest blessing from the Almighty Father which we could ever
receive. The two chief positions on the morality of abortion can be called the “pro-
life” position and the “pro-choice” position.
Abortion was being moralized because of this kind of beliefs. It is said that, abortion
is a way of ending a pregnancy and the most used ways from other country to
prevent the upcoming responsibility of a man and woman; the responsibility of
being a parent. Due to the reason that a child is a great blessing from the Almighty
Father, doing this kind of act or doing abortion is a great sin which we could ever
commit in our life. Abortion is an unethical act, because morally speaking, we are
killing an innocent life, hope, love and new beginning; a child of God. In this notion,
we can conclude that this is a pro-life position.
Well, easy for us to say, that it is a great sin to perform abortion without even
considering the person bearing the child. Abortion was being politicized for a fact
that most people considered this word as a taboo topic. The word abortion is already
in line with the word crime. However, not all things or act that we see wrong is a
crime. Most of us may have neglected the main reason why would a woman commit
such act, other considerations for most pro-choicers include the following: the infant
has a high risk of developing a disability or a genetic condition; a volatile or
unloving family setting; a significant interruption in the pregnant woman's life
plans; Pregnant woman's financial difficulty; If abortions are forced underground,
women will die; and lastly the fundamental right of a woman to direct and control
her own body.
We should also remember that, sometimes in our life, there will be choices that
needs to be chosen even if this means sacrificing our own beliefs and for the
betterment of everyone. But, if anything or whatever it is, I hope we get to choose
the right choices life throws at us.
