“First Online Virtual Orientation for

Parents/Guardians of Tranca Elementary School for
SY 2020-2021”

The coronavirus pandemic has turned the spotlight on one of the problems around the
world that has not been resolved until now. As part of response to the COVID-19 disruptions
in education, according to DepEd Secretary Leonor M. Briones, the department has
developed its Learning Continuity Plan (LCP) which prioritizes the “health, safety and well-
being of the learners, teachers, parents and stakeholders” in the time of pandemic while
finding ways for education to continue amid crisis for the upcoming school year.
Given the drastic adjustments needed for the “new normal”, most especially for the
parents of pupils, Tranca Elementary School headed by Ma’am Ivy C. Padilla, initiated the
“First Online Virtual Orientation for Parents/Guardians of Tranca Elementary School for SY
2020-2021” last August 13, 2020 at 10 in the morning. Teachers made sure that
parents/guardians are well-informed about the scheduled orientation ahead of time. The
purpose of the said activity is to guide and cater queries of the parents in the process of the
new educational system considering safety and health of everyone since it was done through
online.
The program started with a prayer led by Ma’am Teodosia H. Mangubat, Teacher III,
followed by the orientation proper directed by Ma’am Ivy C. Padilla. She presented that
based on the result of the survey done last June, Modular Distance Learning (MDL) or
printed modules is the most chosen learning modality by the parents. It can be anchored to
the reality that not all have a good internet access as well as gadgets to be used for online
learning. For that reasons, she guided the parents with the step-by-step procedures on how
Modular Distance Learning (MDL) will be done.
Ma’am Padilla also oriented parents on the distribution and retrieval areas of the
learning modules for each grade level to observe safety and health. The specific allotted time
for each grade level was also strictly given to avoid gathering of people at the same time.
Then, she also reminded parents/guardians the basic safety precautions to be followed
in the distribution and retrieval of modules such as, “No Facemask, No Entry”, “Social
Distancing” “Thermal Scanning”, “Foot Sanitation” and “Using of Alcohol” before entering
the school premises. This is to ensure the safety of parents as well as the teaching personnel.

The presentation ended with giving gratitude to “Brigada Heroes” who continuously
supporting the school in facing the “new normal educational system” by donating cash and
kinds. Afterwards, an open-forum was held to cater the queries of parents.
In summary, the said online virtual orientation was delivered to the total of _____ out
of 378 enrolled pupils at Tranca Elementary School for SY 2020-2021. Teachers were
directed to disseminate the information discussed to the parents/guardians who were not able
to attend with the said orientation.
Technical difficulties was not avoided due to internet lost, but the school made sure
that through cooperation and understanding, everything was resolved immediately.
