1. While riding one day, Isiah witnessed an accident. He saw a bus and a car collide head on.

He found it
strange that even though the bus is bigger, both vehicles collided and stop. He thought to himself that the
bus should’ve pushed back the car. Plan and design an experiment to help Isiah understand why the
vehicles stopped.

2. Marques and his family were enjoying themselves at the beach one hot sunny day. Marques decided to
take a swim to cool off. As he kept going deeper into the water, it started to feel nice and cold. He
became puzzled, because the place was extremely hot but the water was cold. Plan and design an
experiment to explain this phenomenon.

3. Tyra was playing with her magnifying glass by burning ants with it. She started to complain to her
friend Kiesha that when the gets close enough to burn the ants, the run away because she got too close to
them. Kiesha told her that she should use a thinner magnifying glass and it should help her burn the ants.
Plan and design experiment to see if this will help Tyra.

4. While doing a food test lab in school, Jamie accidentally dropped a test tube into a beaker of cooking
oil. She started to panic, because when she looked into the beaker, a part of the test tube was missing.
When she removed the test tube however, it was still intact. Plan and design an experiment to help Jamie
figure out where the part of the test tube disappeared to and reappear back.

5. Sherisa was watching San Andres, and found the tsunami scene very strange. The wave started moving
very slow but as it approached the land it sped up. She realized that it does be the same way with the
waves at the beach. They are moving slow and then suddenly get fast as they reach the shore. Plan and
design an experiment to help Sherisa figure out what is happening in these scenarios.

6. In Physics lesson, Jamuna learnt that a wave is a transfer of energy. While playing with a laser one
night, she noticed that the light was a bit dimmer when she bounced it off her neighbor’s windows. Her
teacher told her that when reflection occurs, the energy of the wave is reflected too, so why does her
laser light look dimmer when she bounces off something. Plan and design and experiment to help
Jamuna.

7. After Christmas, Nazim and Karran planned to race their toy cars to see who got the better gift. Nazim
wasn’t too confident if his Growlands RC have enough power to beat Karran’s Force1 Techno RC. He
thought of some ways to boost his Growlands’ motor rpm. Plan and design an experiment to help Nazim
figure out what would be the best way to boost his Growlands rpm.
