The design of the water tube boiler is similar to the fire tube boiler, but instead
of the furnace heating fire tubes to water in a tank, the furnace heats water tubes
inside the furnace. In the same way, a fuel source is burned in the furnace, causin
the water tubes inside to heat up. When the water is boiled, the steam is generated
and moved to the downstream. A water tube boiler is more thermally efficient than a
fire tube boiler, but they are more complicated to construct.
The process of water tube boiler is heating the tube with water inside of the tube,
the water tube boiler contains many tubes and it has two drums. The purpose of the
drums are to provide water to the tubes that is connected to the drum, the tubes
are placed in the cumbustion area and it forms a wall around it. All of the tubes
are filled with water and also the lower drum, but the upper drum is the only
filled with a certain amount of water. The upper drums is not completely filled
with water because the space is used to collect the steam. As the combustion area
is filed with burned fuel heat is being transfered to the wate tubes, then the
combustion gases goes out of the boiler. The water in the tubes is heated a steam
water mixture is produced the steam will enter the upper drum where there is a
space for steams and the steam will go to the steam outlet.
The water tube boiler consists of a series of water tubes and two drums, the drums
distribute water to the tubes the water tubes connect the drums and form a wall
around the combustion area of the boiler and this is where heat is generated. Water
is fed into the upper drum through a feed water inlet line the water tubes, and the
lower drum are completely filled with water. The upper drum is only filled to a
certain level, this provides space for steam to collect. The upper drum is often
called the steam drum, as fuel is burned in the combustion area heat is transferred
to the water tubes. Then the combustion gases flow out of the boiler water
circulates from the upper drum through the water tubes and into the lower drum the
lower drum is often referred to as the mud drum from the lower drum the water is
distributed to the water tube surrounding the combustion area as the water in the
tubes is heated a steam water mixture is produced the steam water mixture enters
the upper drum the steam is separated from the water and routed through the steam
outlet and in this top
