Aquaculture

By: Stefano Logozzo

What is aquaculture? According to the dictionary, aquaculture means Aquaculture is the
breeding, rearing, and harvesting of fish, shellfish, algae, and other organisms in all types of
water environments. Aquaculture has been a new industry for the past 30-40 years. Aquaculture
has been overused for a long time and we should take a break from it. Although we are risking
the extinction of most fish this is a perfect supply of protein. Socially, this helps us, so we gain
protein, and it gives people more offers for jobs. Environmentally, this hurts us because we are
risking the extinction of fish for our lives. Economically, this provides for the city, town, etc.
because they gain money from selling and farming all these fish. Politically, the government will
not do anything because all they want is money, they will do anything, and will cut off any form
of life to gain money. Aquaculture can lead to overfishing so eventually, we will run out of fish
and the money will stop flowing into the government. Aquaculture will also affect our futures so
we will not have jobs, the government needs to take a break from farming these fish to make
money. Aquaculture has many positive and negative effects, but eventually, all the positive
effects will become negative because all fish would be extinct or endangered.
