3 Active Volcanoes

1. Stromboli (Aeolian Islands, Italy)

- One of the world's most active volcanoes, Stromboli is located on a
little island north of Sicily and is known for its incandescent lava
flows and frequent eruptions.

2. Yasur (Vanuatu)
- On Tanna Island in Vanuatu, Mount Yasur is a volcano that rises
361 meters above sea level and is located close to Sulphur Bay,
northeast of Mount Tukosmera, a volcano that is taller and was
active during the Pleistocene.

3. Sakurajima (Kyushu, Japan)

- Sakurajima is an active stratovolcano, formerly an island and now
a peninsula, in Kagoshima Prefecture in Kyushu, Japan. The lava
flows of the 1914 eruption connected it with the Ōsumi Peninsula.
It is the most active volcano in Japan.

3 Dormant Volcanoes

1. Mount Fuji (Japan)

- With a height of 12,388 feet, this mountain is the highest point in Japan.
(3,776 meters). It is only 60 miles (100 km) from the Tokyo-Yokohama
urban area and situated in the Yamanashi and Shizuoka prefectures, both
of which are coastal regions. Scientists still believe Mount Fuji is active
even though its most recent eruption was in 1707.

2. Mount Kilimanjaro ( Kilimanjaro Region, Tanzania)

- Near the Kenyan border, in northeastern Tanzania, is where you'll
find this well-known volcanic massif. It's interesting to note that
Kilimanjaro is actually made up of three different volcanic cones
despite appearing to be one enormous mountain.

3. Three Sisters (Oregon U.S.)

- The Three Sisters volcano, which is located in Lane County and is a
component of the Cascade Mountain Range in Oregon, last erupted
roughly 2,000 years ago. The North Sister, Middle Sister, and South
Sister are actually three aligned stratovolcanoes. The peaks are made of
several types of rock and were not all constructed at the same time.

3 Extinct Volcanoes
1. Mount Buninyong (Australia)
- A huge extinct volcano named Mount Buninyong is located 15
kilometers to the southeast of Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. The Western
Victorian Volcanic Plains is home to the 745-meter volcano.

2. Ben Nevis (Scotland, United Kingdom)

- A huge extinct volcano named Mount Buninyong is located 15
kilometers to the southeast of Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. The Western
Victorian Volcanic Plains is home to the 745-meter volcano.

3. Mount Guinsiliban (Camiguin Island Philippines)

- Camiguin is known as the "island born of fire" since it was created
from volcanic material. Mt. Mambajao, Mt. Guinsiliban, Mt.
Timpoong, Mt. Vulcan, Mt. Uhay, Mt. Tres Marias, and Mt.
Hibok-hibok are the seven volcanoes on the island.
