Lee Byung-chul
Founder of Samsung

Characteristics:
• Comfortable with failure
• Risk Tolerance
• Innovation
• Long-term focus

One of South Korea's most successful entrepreneurs, Lee Byung-chul

founded the Samsung Group. He began his first career by using his father's
resources, and after his father passed away, he opened a rice mill in his
hometown of Gyeongnam. Sadly, the rice mill business was a failure,
therefore on March 1, 1938, he closed it down and moved his job to that of a
trucking company (courier company) called Samsung Trade Company, which
was based in Daegu. The pattern of the earliest logos was described and
"Three Stars" was the phrase Samsung's original meaning.

After experiencing success in 1945, Samsung began shipping goods out of

Korea to other nations; in 1947, the business established itself in Seoul.

Almost losing all he owned during the Korean War, Lee Byung-Chul was able
to recover it all, stand up for himself, and eventually became billionaire in
Korea.
