Reflection Essay 3

What I have learned from Essay 1 is the genre analysis. I don’t think I used the genre

analysis in Essay 3, because Essay 3 was mostly about describing and talking about why an

author wrote this article, and citing it. What I learned from Essay 2 was visual text analysis. For

this essay, it wasn’t really needed either since there is no image on the article I chose. The only

thing that was a visual text on the article I chose was the bar graphs. The graphs may be part of a

visual text analysis because it shows the analytics of a result, which can seem obvious. What’s

most important is why is it at this level, and what is the cause of this and that.

For both Essay 1 and 2, neither of its topics was applicable to the Essay 3 since Essay 3

was different.

What I learned in Essay 3 that can be applied to other courses can be useful. Courses such

as Psychology, Biology and other courses that relate or involve the use of professional English

Writing, or discussions are needed.

Other classes that don’t have anything to write about will not be applicable to the skills

that I developed. Math, for example, is often a problem-solving course and does not involve

writing. Other math-related courses such as Algebra, Geometry, Physics, Pre-Cal, and Cal, do

not involve the use of writing essays or make any form of communication whatsoever. Although,

the questions on the problems do assemble a made-up scene of what someone is trying to do and

achieve. It doesn’t assemble communication, but it makes the reader understand what the
Reed 2

question is trying to explain and solve the right answer. I don’t know any other classes as far as I

know that will be unapplicable at this time.

The analysis of a peered reviewed article can help me improve my writing by reading it,

and getting ideas of how they talk in certain ways. It may be hard to understand when to write

this and that, but it is worth the professionalism. I can approach to writing tasks in the future by

going back to my previous work, and comparing the differences of how the information is

written between the two papers. This can help me write a similar way to how the peer-reviewed

article is written, but not exact because I don’t want to plagiarize.

I commonly have writing weaknesses by all means, except when it comes to stories about

myself or something else. Article have a different type of explanation that requires more detail,

and to reflect.

I honestly don’t know what feedback I will expect, but I have a feeling that I might have

something missing or not. Hopefully, it will be none since I am not good with writing essays like

Essay 1, 2, and 3. Overall, all feedbacks are to be different depending on the topic.

The most challenging part of the essay was describing why the author did this, and

explaining in detail of the causes and effect that doesn’t seem obvious to the audience. Writing in

this kind of way seems to be complicated because I would have to generate ideas and thoughts

about the article.

My identity as a writer kind of felt the same. I’m not sure how to describe this, but when

I used to write essays in the past, I mostly felt like I was more of a regular writer. I am not the

type of author that tries to argue about a certain statement. Therefore, I feel comfortable being

more of an informative type of author.
