Mother nature needs help

Every day, the same students and TAMIU staff are coming and going from every

building to get to where they need to go. Yet, there is something that stands in plain sight that

almost no one notices as they walk by, but an important message that’s calling for our help.

These messages are coming from white posters that are in certain buildings in the university that

is calling for volunteers. TAMIU Garden is a university institute focusing on nature and

providing free agriculture learning for everyone. Their free volunteer service also gives a future

benefit to participating individuals learning how to garden on their own at home or away from

home. TAMIU Garden has been placing poster advertisements throughout the university

buildings, showing contact information, service times, being beneficial for students studying

anything nature related such as biology, chemistry, ecology, and offering free volunteer service

to on-campus students, staff, and faculty. TAMIU Garden uses posters around campus to

advertise a free volunteering service to work for their garden and learn more about agricultural

skills, because their purpose is to get more people involved their community.

The TAMIU Garden poster provides contact information and meeting times if anyone is

seeking interest in volunteering for the institute as a community, or if the individual has any

questions. Firstly, with contact information, TAMIU Garden provides its phone number, e-mail,

and social media profile. That piece of information is on the very bottom of the poster, because

in most other posters from other organizations or companies, the last thing to see from

advertisers is their contact information. The possible reason why there may be too many contact

options, is that they put on top the most common and easiest way to reach out which is the e-

mail, and the least common descending. TAMIU Garden also provides available times when

their volunteer service is available in the very middle of all of the text on the poster. The color of

the text stating the times and days are black with the font of Times New Roman. The reason for

that is because the text color needs to be fully visible, especially at a far distance. The purpose of

their time being at 5:30, is because everyone in the university mostly ends classes and office

hours around 5:00 PM, which gives the organization time to setup and prepare for activities.

They are located in Laredo, Texas, in Texas A&M International University outside next to the

Zaffirini Student Success Center, and the Athletics Center by the south-side parking lot.

TAMIU Garden is great for students who are studying anything that is part of biology, or

any field, which they indicate on their poster related to agriculture or nature. The poster mentions

that students, faculty, or the staff in the university are welcome. They will get the opportunity to

see a glimpse of a hand-on experience of what working with nature looks like. The colored

tomatoes on the organization logo on top of the poster make it obvious to the reader that this

organization is based on agriculture. The institute mostly focuses on educating the public and the

on-campus students to learn more about the aspects of plants, spread awareness about the

planet’s current state, and why plants are important to people and the planet.

That being said, TAMIU Garden uses posters around campus to advertise a free

volunteering service to help students gain credits for graduation, which helps TAMIU Garden

expand their community. This is important to know why this community is trying to reach out to

anyone who may be interested in outdoor activities. Also, by inviting not just a certain amount of

people within the university, but anyone who is new or a visitor. As the poster mentioned,

everyone is welcome to join as a volunteer on the top of the poster below the organization name.

On a side note, it is very important for readers to know why some communities have their ways

to communicate with different audiences in certain ways. Depending on what a community puts

on their posters, letters, bulletins, or anything that has to do to catch the attention of people

walking by, will always have a reason and a purpose for why they were saying this, in what way,

and to whom. Analyzing plays a role to help readers understand others who may be unreachable,

and crack the code of the message.

To conclude, TAMIU Garden uses posters around campus to reach out to not only certain

individuals within the university, but to anyone who is a visitor to the campus. The main reason

why the author and most other organizations choose this way of advertising is that they want the

readers to first read who they are by their brand name, who they allow, what they do, when they

are available, and how to reach out to them. This way of advertisement is more organized and in

order, because how will the reader know who is the advertiser first, what they do next, and when

they are reachable. They provide contact information for anyone who may be interested in

participating in their volunteer service. The institution is helpful for students who are studying

nature related field classes about the importance of nature. And the purpose of this group

advertising their service to learn more about nature, and how life works on a daily basis.
