Lesson Objectives The student will engage and participate in the
theatre/improvisational techniques to gain confidence in acting.
The student will be able to listen to and follow directions and
convey ideas clearly and concisely to their partner/group.
Materials Theatre games from memory and various online sources
Planning for Learners Differentiation:
We will go to the auditorium lobby to complete the theatre
activities today.
Modifications/Accommodations:
Reading and writing will not be evaluated; group participation
and listening will.
Redirection to remain on task when necessary.
Lesson Presentation
Introduction The next major project you’re going to work on in here is
writing a screenplay. We’re going to practice some improv and
theatre techniques to become better actors. We will learn a new
technique every day and practice each one every day this week.
Sequence of activities  Go to auditorium lobby
including assessments  Teach theatre games for today- Mirror, Mirror, I’m Sorry
I… or And Then I…, shrinking box…. All will be
practiced throughout the week, just introducing.
 Have them break into partners, these will be their
partners for the whole week. Practice techniques I just
introduced.
 Randomly choose a student to be “In a box!”
 I will be walking around to help/redirect.
Lesson Wrap-up Great job today! Tomorrow we will learn a few new things.
Friday we will be doing a competition for fun- Improv

Olympics. You and your partner will be partners for the rest of
the week and the competition. You guys should know the
rules/how to do each game without prompting by Friday.
