CHAPTER 1

PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND

INTRODUCTION:

Home environment is the most significant factor affecting student's

academic achievement. There are various factors in home environment
which are lacking in our homes for our children, which has a negative
impact and low correlation with student's academic achievement.
''Home environment'' is not an abstract concept. It is the combination
of physical and psychological environment. First one includes rooms, basic
facilities such as water, shelter, clothes, food and other physical needs of
the individuals, while the psychological environment of home includes the
mutual interactions of family members, respect, say in family matters and
such other things.
All educational related activities could hardly be practically applied
without relevant study material stationary, and other physical facilities. All
these facilities and equipment's are the basic needs of education. It is
recommended, therefore, that the educator's should encourage parents to
provide the necessary means of academic success such as stationary,
books, separate study room and homework facilities at their respective
homes which will result in improvement of education related performances.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM:

This research explored the relationship of household financial and student's

education related performance of vecc students. It concentrated to
measure the relationship of family members interactions and physical
facilities at home and student's academic achievements.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY:

In simple terms this study indicates a weak possible correlation between

home environment and students academic achievement. On the other
hand this study benefits some students and teachers that has own room for
this kind of new schooling.

SCOPE AND DELIMITATION:

The study will focus on the effects of household financial on the academic
performance of VECC Students. We aim to study some respondents from
VECC students. The study will be conducted during the school year 2022-
2023.
This study will focus only in the home factors within the school to see the
relationship between the independent and dependent variables

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

The literature and studies cited in this chapter tackle the different concept,
understanding, and ideas generalization or conclsions and different
development related to the study of the The effect of household financial on
the academic performance of vecc students. those that were also included
in this chapter helps in familiarizing information that are relevant and similar
to the present study.

LOCAL LITERATURE

A teachers at Mambugan National Hihschool stated that there are several

factors affecting the students in academic performance. Some are home,
school, teacher, and students factors. Most of the factors are home related:
family size, financial burden, parental attitude towards education and
parental style. When it comes to school, the relationship between the
teacher, students and distance of the school from home are the some
factors of that affect. However, the student himself or herself contributes to
the case particularly th peer of group influence. it reflects the students
value ands and priorities when it comes to the life choices, for example the
choices of the study hard and give a focus on the study.

The teacher qualities and capabilities also affecting the performance of the students in
their studies. Some of the attributes of the teacher like teaching experience teacher
attitude toward students, and teacher training can highly affect the students perceptions
on the study. parents play a very important role in the process. They should affect their
presence they should support and sustain the studies of their children through financial
stability. but more than that is affection, the love, and care that the students must feel so
they will be inspired to go further in their studies.

FOREIGN LITERATURE
According to the Global Journal Management and business research by Irfan
Mushtaq and Shabana Nawaz Khan , the social and economic development of the
country is directly linked with student academic performance .The student performance
(Academic achievement) plays an important role in producing the best quality graduates
who will become great leader and manpower for the country thus responsible for the
countrys economic and social development.

There are two types of factors that affect the students academic performance .These
are internal and external classroom factors and these factors strongly affect the
students performance .Internal classroom factors include student competence in
English, class schedules, class size,English textbooks, class test result , learning
facilities , homework, environment of the class, complexity of the course material,
teachers role in the class , technology used in the class and exams system .External
classroom factors include extracurricular activities, family problems , work and financial ,
social and other problems. Irfan Mushtaq Shabana Nawaz Khan found that the most
important factor with positive effect on students performance is students competence in
english .If students have strong communication skills and have strong grip on english .It
increase the perfomance the students .The performance of the student is affected by
communication skills; it is possible to see communication as a variable which may be
positively related to performance of the students in open learning. A major distinction of
this study from previous studies is that focuses on open learning.

The students face a lot of problems in developing positive study attitudes and
study habits. Guidance is of the factor through which a student can improve his study
attitudes and study habits and is directly proportional to academic achievement. The
students who are properly guided by their parents have performed well in the exams.
The guidance from the teacher also affects the students performance. The guidance
from the parents and the teachers indirectly affect the performance of the students.
CHAPTER 3
SAMPLE DESIGN

If sufficient frame information were available, the SCF list sample would use a design
that minimized the expected sampling error for net worth or, perhaps, a weighted
combination of financial variables, where the weights would reflect the relative
importance of the individual variables at the analysis stage. In practice, no
comprehensive data on wealth are available to make this calculation. However,
extensive information on income from assets is collected as a part of Federal tax
administration. Because many assets generate income that would be reported on a tax
return, it is plausible that a proxy for net worth could be developed using income flows.

RESEARCH INSTRUMENT
the researcher used survey method to gather information from vecc students . The main
instrument used for gathering data needed in this study is the questionnaire given by
the researcher . Wherein it is set of question intended to answer by the respondents, it
is personally distributed to the vecc students The respondent can answer the
questionnaire privately .The part 1 of the questionnaire determines the respondent's
profile ,section and the other .The part 2 decides the factors that affect the academic
performance of the respondents

POPULATION AND SAMPLE

the respondents of the study were the students in vecc students .The researcher
applied random sampling .Random sampling was a more efficient procedure wherein
the respondents were randomly selected by the researcher
total sample size of 50 students randomly selected using random sampling from grade 9
to g12 students in VICTORY ELIJAH CHRISTIAN COLLEGE INC.

DATA GATHERING PROCEDURE

the researcher used primary and secondary resourcs in collecting data that is relevant
to this research to this research .The researcher randomly selected sample the total
population of the vecc students .Total sample size of 50 from the vecc students were
used in this research study
the researcher discussed the nature of the study .The result were tallied indicating thier
choices and perspective about the factors that affect the respondents academic
performance of vecc students

SOURCES OF THE STUDY

the researchers used different references such as unpublished thesis and internet
articles to gather enough information for the study.
-UNPUBLISHED THESIS: the researcher used this to collect some ideas on how it
should be done
-INTERNET: the researcher used the internet to gather information that are related to
the study
-QUESTIONNAIRE: the researchers used questionnaire to know more about the
respondent opinions

STATISTICAL TREATMENT
The researchers used the following statistical treatment to organize and interpret the
answers of the respondents
PERCENTAGE. is a number or ratio expressed as a fraction of 100
