6. Weather and seasons

- Description of the four seasons in Hungary

 Hungary is situated in Central Europe and its climate can be described as typical
 European continental climate with four seasons: winter, spring, summer and autumn.

- What you do in/enjoy about the different seasons

 In spring the weather is very changeable and sometimes quite unpredictable: thennights are
cold but during the day you can feel the warmth of the sun and enjoy the mild winds. It can
rain a lot too, so it is not at all easy to choose the right clothing to wear.
 The summers are usually warm, sunny and dry, the sky is clear, although sometimes heavy
showers or thunderstorms can occur at the end of the day. In summer daytime temperatures
reach 20-25°C, but sometimes quite higher, 30°C or more. July is the warmest month with an
average temperature of 22°C. In the past years we had some serious heatwaves, which were
really unpleasant for everyone, especially the elderly, the ill and the very young. You couldn’t
find a cool spot as the water of all the rivers and lakes got warm. Our agriculture suffered
serious losses because of water shortage and drought.
 Until November autumn can be lovely with bright sunny days and relatively high average
temperatures. The nights can be chilly just like in spring, but then you can experience mild
weather during the day. Mists and nasty fogs may occur early in the morning, which can
cause poor visibility and traffic problems.
 The winters in Hungary are fairly cold. January is the coldest month with daytime
temperatures usually around zero, but in some cases winter months can be very cold with
temperatures far below zero and strong, cold northeasterly winds, especially in the
mountainous regions. Heavy snowfall or even terrible snowstorms are also possible. Cold
winters may result in financial difficulties for a lot of people because heating is quite
expensive in Hungary. It might also be difficult for the state to provide every household with
the necessary quantity of energy as Hungary depends on Russia for much of its natural gas
imports.

- How unpleasant weather causes trouble to us

 Most of the time I like to know what kind of weather to expect, so I usually check the
weather forecast on the Internet
 there are a lot of maps showing the density of smog, the quantity of snow, giving information
on winds, etc
 due to modern technology forecasts are quite reliable nowadays and we can be given real
time information for example through webcams if we are interested in it.

- Extreme weather conditions and climate change

7. Your flat, your room

- Location, what it looks like, how it is furnished

- What makes it special, what you particularly like about it,

- What you don’t like about it, how you would change it

8. Living in a city / in the countryside

- Advantages (of both)

 Advantages of living in a city:

 There are often roads of a better quality and well-built houses in urban areas.
 Transport facilities are highly developed and often receive regular funding for updates. It can
be faster to get from place to place in a city or town.
 Due to better public transport, you can save money on a car
 Most amenities and entertainments are easy to reach. Clubs, restaurants and cinemas are
more prolific in these busier areas and you often find new attractions will open in a city
before anywhere else.
 Hospitals and clinics are close by for easy access to healthcare or aid in an emergency.
 Cities and towns tend to have a greater mix of cultures and ethnicities which can help when
making new friends and meeting people.
 There are a greater number of jobs available in urban areas. Starting a new career could be
far easier if you move to a town or city.

 Advantages of living in a village:

 More privacy. In the countryside there’s a good chance your nearest neighbour won’t be
directly next door. You may not even be able to spot their home at all.
 You can have a bigger garden. If you’ve always wanted to grow your own food or have more
space for children or pets, this is a huge benefit.
 You’ll be able to own pets you may have always wanted but couldn’t have owned in a city or
town. Cows, llamas and horses are all examples of these. You could even keep hens and have
your own free-range eggs.
 You’ll be closer to the various wildlife of the area and to walks in areas of natural beauty.
 City-dwellers usually suffer higher levels of stress than those who commute in for work or
live and work in the country. There is a reason living and working in a city is called “the rat
race”. By decreasing the number of people surrounding you, you could become more
relaxed.
 You can be fully, or semi self-sufficient. You could grow your own food. If you do decide to
keep animals, you may also be able to sell produce from them (milk/eggs/honey) to create a
small income.

- Disadvantages (of both)

 Disadvantages of living in a city:

 Busy towns or cities can feel crowded and may mean you feel more stress or pressure. You
may also not be able to form such tight knit communities in urban areas.
 Urban areas tend to be more expensive to live in. Property prices are higher and so are goods
and services.
 Houses are more compact in urban areas. To maximise space, flats and smaller apartments
are built instead of houses with larger gardens.
 There are often fewer green spaces in a town or city. You may not always be able to enjoy
natural spaces.
 Public transport might not always be as reliable as you’d like, and many towns or cities are
restrictive with parking. If you prefer to drive, you may find it harder to keep a car close to
where you live unless it is at great expense.
 Because of larger populations, cities can have higher levels of pollution, including noise
pollution. This could be damaging to your health in the long-term.
 If you have pets you may find it harder to find a place to live that allows them. It may also be
harder to find a place to walk a dog or enjoy outdoor space with them.

 Disadvantages of living in a village:

 If you have children of school-age, they might be faced with a longer journey to school,
whether they walk, take the bus or get a lift in.
 Shopping can become an inconvenience. This may not seem all that important, but staples
that are purchased a couple times a week, such as milk and bread, may be further than just a
2 minute trip down the road.
 There may be limited job opportunities, unless you already have a job nearby or if you
commute into a town or city.
 Television and Internet connectivity could be weaker or patchy in more rural areas.
 During the winter months, nearby roads might not be in the best shape or not be as well
maintained as urban roads.
 Trade services, such as a mechanic, are harder to find. In urban areas, if you have car trouble
you can make do with a local taxi or bus until it’s fixed. Services like these are scarcer in the
countryside, leaving you with limited options.
 Entertainment and eateries may be further away, which involves more time, a higher
expense and extra planning.

9. Your school, your class

- General information about the school

 my school founded in 1626, it’s name is Czuczor Gergely Benediktine Highschool

 located in the széchenyi square in Győr

godfather), also one of my cousin finished here

- Descibe your class: people, programmes, community

 in my class we have 40 people + the form master

 15 boys and 25 girls
 our class in the new building, in the 3rd floor
 my class is not bad but could be better a bit because there’s a boy who disrupts it a lot and
the form master pretends to care with him and also pretends to not to care too much with
the entire class
 school has plenty of programmes like races, sport events, parties etc., but i am not so
outgoing person so i don’t attend in too much events
10. School subjects, language learning
- Mentioning the different levels/types of schools in Hungary and the aims of attending them

 in Hungary the first school where you must attend is primary school or Elementary are the
first one
 you start them at 6 or 7 years old

provide for students
 my only ectra activity what i am currently doing is taking up geography classes which can
help me tod o my final exam in the end of this schoolyear

- Different methods and ways to learn a foreign language in and out of school

 learning a language can be tough for many many people

 some people try to learn by their own, some asks for help from close ones, some are pays for
a private teacher to help them and there are way more paths that you can study it.
 people learn any language from books/in school/websites/movies/videos/watching
news/talking with natives/practicing by your own/listening to podcast sor music/speaking
with family or friends or in front of the mirror

- Your personal experience in language learning

 my native language what I ’ve learning since toddler age in hungarian

 when I was 6 years old I started learning English in primary school
 To be honest only 1 foreign language is enough for me but our school forces us to take upm a
2nd one and I would be so grateful if we didn’t have to choose one more
 I usually learn a language from books/in school/websites/ videos/watching news and
practicing by my own but mainly I learn it in the class.
11. A healthy life
- Comparing a healthy and unhealthy diet

 If you want to lead a healthy lifestyle it is important to do sports regularly, to have a

balanced diet and have a daily routine which is more or less the same every day

- Finding ways to get enough exercise/sports

 I think doing sports makes us fitter and less tired during the day
 We can also develop greater endurance and strength
 All these make us more resistant to illnesses
 Others like doing individual sports like jogging, swimming or skiing.
 A lot of people go to the gym regularly, they work out, do aerobics or zumba.
 If you go to the gym with friends it’s fun and it’s easier to stick to the training plan

- How to avoid stress at school/work

 you always should prepare with your subject the previus day(s) before exams are c oming so
you will fell a bit more relieved
 try not to contact disturbing people

- What healthy living/working environment should be like

 A regular daily routine may give you the balance in your life
 Getting up and going to bed at the same time means that you can get enough sleep. It fills
you with energy to face the challenges of the next day
 You shouldn’t spend time in front of the TV or the computer screen before going to sleep, as
these activities won’t relax you. You ought to read a book or a magazine instead

- Your personal experience and preferences

 As for me, I’m not a couch potato at all. I like doing sports in my freetime I do/play/go……..ing
 I mostly do gym sports about 4-6 times a week
 Going out with friends or going to the cinema or theatre are also part of my pastime activities
 Eating in a healthy way is also important for me

hope I can stay in shape and I can avoid diseases.

 Can happen in traffic accidents

- Describing a typical appointment at the family doctor/GP

 I can’t describe too much appointment with my family doctor

- Reasons to get in hospital, personal experience (when you/your relative got treatment in hospital)

 People usually go to hospital when they have something not alright with their body or health
 In Hungary I can’t say that hospitals are those places where you go and get out quickly
 When you don’t ask an exact appointment which is not so uncommon, you have to wait long
hours to get there which can kill you inside.
 But after those painful hours what you had to wait to get there you will feel much better
when you actually get there.
 Doctors are ususally nice with you and try their bests and you will get everything what you
need from them.
