Hypothesis Testing
Question 1; What is the broad question? Is there a correlation between behaviour change and
the effort it requires? What was the specific question? Does task type influence the accuracy of
effort prediction?
Ho: There is no significant difference between task type and accuracy of effort prediction.
H1: There is significant difference between task type and accuracy of effort prediction.
Question 3: Logic: if the hypothesis are true, then what was the predicted outcome? The
hypothesis is accepted and treated as a theory if and only if experimental tests reveal that the
explanation supplied by the hypothesis is acceptable and accurate. In this case, the prediction
would be there is no significant difference between task type, and accuracy of effort prediction.
inaccurate or erroneous, the hypothesis may be judged false and rejected. Therefore, we
accept the alternative hypothesis that there is significant difference between task type, and
Question 4: Method: what did they do in the experiment? They had two-sided questions
depending on how hard and easy it is to read the font. They used the different responses to
make a decision.

Question 5: Results: There is significant difference between task type and accuracy of effort
prediction. Main finding was: The easy tasks were easier to perform as compared to the difficult
to read tasks.
Question 6: Inferences: Conclusion on the hypothesis; we fail to accept the null hypothesis that
there is no significant difference between task type and accuracy of effort prediction, and we
accept the alternative hypothesis that there is significant difference between task type and
accuracy of effort prediction. Conclusion statement of the specific is; the task type has a
significant effect on the accuracy of effort prediction. Conclusion statement of the broad
question: there is a correlation between behaviour change and the effort required.
