CHAPTER I

THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND

Introduction

The relation between academic ethics in research to students forms an

authentic and reliable study such as essay, theses, exams and assignment.

These academic ethics are the academic honesty and the value of education

in academic culture that convey the importance of personal skills to achieve

the evaluation of their learning skills. The researcher of this study developed

the importance of the academic ethics in academic culture to analyze ethical

between right and wrong. This study convey the knowledge in "academic

ethics in research: it's relation to authentic and reliable study of the G11 ICT

students.

Background of the Study

Academic ethics involves a implementation of the research principles in

order to protect the human rights in academic culture and to help the ICT

students to have the awareness of action as right and wrong in academic

research. The academic ethics also promote the study of research, such as

minimizing errors of data, guidelines of the context and it also promotes an

authentic and reliable study.


Research is a systematic inquiry process that include the information in

accordance with appropriate procedures established by particular academic

and professional disciplines . Research is a type of study where the

researcher applies scientific methods to a particular topic or problem.

Research is one of the effective way for the ICT students to practice their own

personal skills in learning system. It is also the best way to analyze the data of

the students needs, to investigate the issues, and to explore the knowledge

about the academics, and other terms of context. In learning system, research

is the instrument to analyze the study of literature, poems, theses, history,

autobiography, interviews, physical health, and speech presentation. In this

way it will increase the knowledge of the ICT students about what they need

to learn in the topic that they were given.

Unfortunately, most of the students attempt to copy others work or plagiarize

in the reason of they are disinterested in the assignments that they were

given, or don't have the idea of how to analyze the data of their topic so most

of them just search the topic on the internet and copy the context just to get

pass on the subject. Usually they attempt to plagiarize because of having a

lack of time but they still have their desire to get a good grades or fear of

failing so they choose to plagiarize without the awareness that they plagiarize

or they do. But none of these situations should justify their actions of unfair

advantage on assignments by showing indifference to the efforts of other

students. The grade 11 ICT students need to understand the appropriate way

of studying that there are many sources of unfair advantages of study that is

not included in terms of education.


However, The students and their studies has a relation in academic ethics

that forms authentic and reliable study in their research to avoid the unfair

studies and to be guide between right or wrong in academic ethics. The

academic ethics signify the value of the research in learning system, These

aspects are the honesty, objectivity, integrity, care, and openness. These

aspects are responsible to process the learning system in ICT students

education.

The kasiglahan village senior high school has the policy for academic

research such as anti plagiarism and other terms of ethical in academic

culture. This policy was According to Republic of The Philippines

Department.

Statement of the problem

This study aims to determine The academic ethics in research: It's relation

to authentic and reliable study of Grade 11 ICT students.

This study seeks to answer the following questions:

1. What are the forms of relation between the academic ethics to grade

11 ICT students academic performance?

2. What did the students experience in their academic year as the

unfortunate plagiarism a rise?


3. How academic ethics help the grade 11 ICT students in their academic

performance?

4.Why is it important to grade 11 ICT students to learn the ethical in terms

of academic culture?

Scope and delimitation

This study focuses on some selected on Grade 11 ICT students who

are experiencing the academic ethics in research to authentic and reliable

study in kasiglahan village senior high school. The study considers the

student's personal information, such as age, gender, Grade level and

class section.

This study aims to determine the forms of relation between the

academic ethics to grade 11 ICT students academic performance, Also it

aims determine the students experience in their academic year as the

unfortunate plagiarism a rise, It also aims to determine how academic

ethics help the grade 11 ICT students in their academic performance, And

finally this study would like to determine why academic ethics is important

to grade 11 ICT students in terms of academic culture.


The researcher of this study is limited identifying the above factors.

The researcher will send survey questionnaire for those volunteers to

answer. These are the grade 11 ICT students enrolled in Kasiglahan

village senior high school in year 2022 - 2023.

Hypothesis

There is a significant relationship between the students and the academic

ethics Academic ethics in research to grade 11 ICT students can lead to low

score because of their confusions of the study but this study can be a

beneficial of academic personal performance.

Conceptual Framework

This section shows the variable of the study with independent and

dependent variables.

Objective of the study

Each research study has it's own purpose. We may think of Objective

research as falling into a number of the following

1. The researcher main purpose of this study is to convey the academic

ethics awareness to the grade 11 ICT students.


2. This study can encourage the grade 11 ICT students to maintain the good

influence in academic ethics and improve their academic performance.

Significance Of the Study

There's many forms of academic process to avoid negative ethicals to

learning system in academic ethics in research. The researcher believe that

the result of this study will benefits the students, the future researcher and the

teachers.

The students - May the result of this study will help the students to evaluate

their self more and specify their own learning skills. The future researcher -

The result of this study may help the future researcher to the academic ethics

in research to relation of authentic and reliable study in advance.

The teachers - this study will help the teachers to guide their students to

right doings from ethical and provide them the understanding.

Academic - Use of the Education Products for teaching and learning

purposes and for Scholarly Research.


Advantages - A condition or circumstance that puts one in a favorable or

superior position..

Authentic - Implies being fully trustworthy as according with fact.

Discipline - It is a control that is gained by requiring that rules or orders be

obeyed and punishing bad behavior.

Ethics - The discipline concerned with what is morally good and bad and

morally right and wrong.

Honesty - Implies a refusal to lie, steal, or deceive in any way.

Integrity - Implies trustworthiness and incorruptibility to a degree that one is

incapable of being false to a trust, responsibility, or pledge.

Lack - The state of being without or not having enough of something.

Plagiarize - Is presenting work or ideas from another source as your own,

with or without consent of the original author, by incorporating it into your work

without full acknowledgement.

Policy - A course or principle of action adopted or proposed by a government,

party, business, or individual.


Principles - A fundamental truth or proposition that serves as the foundation

for a system of belief or behavior or for a chain of reasoning.

Relation - It is the way in which two or more concepts, objects, or people are

connected, a thing’s effect on or relevance to another.

Reliable - An information can be trusted to be accurate.

Systematic - Something is done or according to an agreed set of methods or

organized plan..

Theses - A long essay or dissertation involving personal research, written by

a candidate for a college degree.
