Leadership Hierarchy and Selection

Drum Majors are chosen through an interview and conducting audition process at the end of
the spring semester. Rising juniors or seniors can apply. Drum majors are the highest rank a
band member can hold and are held to a high standard. They are expected to assist with
rehearsal procedures and work with the band director and other staff to do so.

Section Leaders are chosen through an interview process at the end of the spring semester.
Sophomores- Seniors can apply. Section leaders are the direct communicators with their
sections and are expected to assist and monitor their sections during rehearsal.

Leadership Team:
All band members, regardless of age or other leadership positions they hold, can join the
leadership team. This is a formalized group of student volunteers that help with various things
throughout the year to keep the band program running smoothly. Some examples of activities
that the leadership team helps with are instrument/uniform inventory and checkout, passing out
food and water to members at band events, setting up or tearing down for band events, and
more. Essentially, the leadership team is who the directors can call on when they need help with
anything in the band room! This is a non-auditioned, volunteer-basis group that meets 1-2 times
a month as deemed necessary by the director. This is also a great way for underclassmen or
students who do not desire a leadership role to get more involved with the band program!
Students who are interested in joining should talk to a director.
