Rolihlahla Mandela was born into the Madiba clan in the village of Mvezo, in the Eastern Cape, on July

FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT
Franklin Delano Roosevelt (January 30, 1882 – April 12, 1945), commonly known as FDR, was an
American statesman and political leader who served as the 32nd President of the United States from
1933 until his death in 1945.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

 He arrested financial panic through the Emergency Banking Act.


 The FDIC was established through the 1933 Banking Act.
 The US social security system was created during his presidency.
 He established a National Minimum Wage through the Fair Labor Standards Act.
 He took the first federal action to prohibit employment discrimination.

ADVOCACIES

 Roosevelt wanted to stop the discrimination against the blacks. He wanted to raise the
economic status of the United States of America.

IMPACT OF HIS UNCONDITIONAL SERVICE

 He created numerous programs to provide relief to the unemployed and farmers while seeking
economic recovery with the National Recovery Administration and other programs. He also
instituted major regulatory reforms related to finance, communications, and labor, and presided
over the end of Prohibition

LEADERSHIP STYLE

 FDR was known for many traits such as great charisma, a strong character, and a clear vision of
America which were enhanced by his intelligence and courage.

ABRAHAM LINCOLN
Abraham Lincoln (February 12, 1809 – April 15, 1865) was an American politician and lawyer who served
as the 16th President of the United States from March 1861 until his assassination in April 1865. Lincoln
led the United States through its Civil War—its bloodiest war and perhaps its greatest moral,
constitutional, and political crisis.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

 He signed the first of the Homestead Acts, allowing poor people to obtain land.
 He established the United States Department of Agriculture.
 He signed the Morrill Land-grant Act which led to creation of numerous Universities.
 Lincoln is behind the progressive nature of income tax in US.
 He issued the emancipation proclamation which lead to abolishing slavery in the US.
 He established the National Banking System.

ADVOCACIES

 Lincoln was a staunch advocate of rapid economic modernization through banking, canals,
railroads, and tariffs to encourage the building of factories. Lincoln served a single term in
Congress in the late 1840s where he notably opposed the war with Mexico and criticized the
presence of slavery in the nation's capital.

IMPACT OF HIS UNCONDITIONAL SERVICE

 Abraham Lincoln changed the world using his powerful moral rhetoric and by taking action in
the fight to end slavery and win the Civil War. Lincoln also expanded the role of the federal
government in his efforts to keep the union together.

LEADERSHIP STYLE

 Lincoln was definitely a transformational leader and a change champion as he brings about the
abolishment of slavery and preserving the union at the same time. Lincoln had a remarkable
ability to communicate his goals to his people.

WINSTON CHURCHILL
Winston Churchill, in full Sir Winton Leonard Spencer Churchill, ( born November 30, 1874, Blenheim
Palace, Oxford shire, England – died January 24, 1965, London ),British statesman, orator, and author
who is Prime Minister (1940-45, 1951-55) rallied the British people during world war II and led his
country from the brink of defeat to victory.

ACCOMPLISHMENT

 He played an active role in the passage of the people’s budget.


 He implemented the first Naval Reforms as first lord of the admiralty.
 He served as war and air secretary and as colonial secretary in early 1920s.

ADVOCACIES

 He wanted to build a set up offices to help the unemployed find employment. He wanted to
support the poor to and providing children with free school meals.

IMPACT OF HIS UNCONMDITIONAL SERVICE

 He inspired his people by helping them understand the values and importance of his projects.

LEADERSHIP STYLE

 His charismatic leadership traits enabled him to adopt a vision and concentrate on the bigger
picture, which enable him to claim victory for his nation. He was able to perform his duties
democratically and not as a totalitarian dictator.
