STEPS:

A. Procedures Before Pole Dressing

1. Review the engineering plan and determine the construction point for pole dressing.
2. Check completeness of materials withdrawn at stores for the assigned pole dressing
job.
3. Check logistics requirements.
4. To avoid any inconvenience to the public, clearance shall be secured from concerned
traffic authorities or local barangay officials prior to actual work, if necessary.
5. Check existing overhead distribution/sub-transmission facilities if there is a need to
interrupt affected lines. Submit a request for pre-arranged job interruption to
operations planning unit if needed.

B. Procedures during Pole Dressing

1. The supervisor shall conduct tailgate conference before stating work, in order to
instruct linemen on the work to be done and the safety precautions to be observed.
2. Position line trucks and mechanized equipment so as not to obstruct or interfere with
vehicular traffic or driveways.
3. Post early warning devices or caution signs at the job site for safety.
4. For night work, set up the floodlights energized through a portable generator,
installed an appropriate location for optimum visibility.
5. Electrically ground all mechanized equipment using equipment supplied grounding
cable or with additional grounding clusters, if necessary.
6. Request for appropriate clearance tag when working near energized distribution
lines.
7. For work with pre-arranged job interruption, coordinate with system operation for
thew clearance to work on the interrupted line. Perform line testing on the
interrupted line then enclose the work area with grounding clusters prior to
commence with the assigned activity.
8. Install conductor covers or other insulated protective cover when working near
overhead distribution facilities.
9. For work without gondola, linemen will climb the sub-transmission pole bringing with
him a hand line which will be used for raising tools and line materials needed for
pole dressing.

without using undue force.
4. Raise the insulators and other line hardware.
5. Care should be taken in raising the insulators to avoid damage or
breakage.
6. Attach the insulators and other line hardware into the pole using
bolts specified in the engineering plan. Ensure that all machine bolt
nuts were properly tightened.
7. After the Installation of pole dressing, remove all installed pole steps
and hand line.

D. Procedures before leaving the Work Area
