To mark the formal acceptance of the 63 students into scouting, Boy Scouts of the Philippines held

its first school encampment and Investiture Ceremony on November 4-5, 2022 E.B. Magalona National
Highschool.

“Scouting is a tool for holistic development. Scouting movement aims to support young people in
their physical, mental, and spiritual development, so that they may play a constructive role in society,
with a strong focus on outdoor and survival skills.” Mae Flor Arillo EBMNHS BSP Adviser said.

During their 2-day, they did backpacking with Jack Haven Rover Scouts from Silay city, and
discussed about Aquatics.

The primary activities that the scouts did were to develop their character physically and mentally
through these hands-on activities.

On the following day, the scouts did morning devotion and had their flag ceremony, they then
proceeded with their basic first-aid discussion.

Furthermore, they were taught the “back to basic” activity which is cooking rice with the use of
bamboo and cooking eggs using a stick.

For their last activity, the scouts then learned knot-tying and lashing and when to use them.

“Be Prepared” is one of our Scout Motto. We are told to always be ready on every situation or
circumstances we might face ahead. Especially, during camping. It is a matter of quick thinking and not
to panic every time there is an emergency.” Words of EBMNHS BSP student lead himself, Justin Raphael
Capinpin.
