1. Prayer
Our Father, Who art in
Can someone lead the prayer? heaven,
(Call a student) Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Let us all stand for a prayer. Thy Will be done,
on earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily
bread.
And forgive us our
trespasses,
as we forgive those who
trespass against us.
And lead us not into
temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Amen.
2. Greetings

Good Morning Class…

Good Morning Miss!
Good Morning Classmates…
3. Setting the Classroom Standard

Before you take your seats, pick

up pieces of trash under your
chairs and arrange your chairs
according to its rows and columns. (Students are picking up trashes and
throwing them in the class bin and
Are you now all settled, class? arranging their chairs properly)

Last meeting, I have set classroom

rules and regulations for you to follow
during our class session. Am I right, class? Yes Miss!

Yes Miss!

Now, who can still recall what the (the student will stand and recite the
classroom rules are? (Call a student) class rules)

Yes that’s right, Very Good… Raise your right hand if you want to
What Else? answer and left hand if you want to
be excused.
Yes Jean?

Very Good, Jean! We agreed to listen when somebody

is talking.
Next, Ella?

Very Good, Ella!

Respect your teacher and your
classmates.
What else?
Yes, Angelo? We also agreed to turn off
cellphones and other gadgets during
class hour.
Okay, very good!

I hope that those agreed classroom rules

will always be followed for us to be
organized and disciplined. Okay, can I
expect that, class?

Okay, that’s good to hear from you

class.
4. Checking of Attendance Yes Miss!

Who is the secretary of this class?

Okay, Rose Jean since you are the

secretary of this class, list the
names of absent today in you class
blue book.
(Rose Jean raising her hand)
I am the secretary miss…

Yes Miss, Noted!

5. Review

We are done with our Yesterday, we discussed about the

previous topic. Let us recall what BRAKE SYSTEM, miss…
you have learned about the
discussion last meeting? Okay,
what is our discussion last
meeting?

Yes, Jonathan?

Yes, Very Good!

Now, Can you recall to me what

Brake System is?

Yes, Jelou? Miss, Brake System is a system that

allows the vehicle to slow, stop or
hold.

Very Good, Jelou!

So, What are the parts of Brake

system?

Yes, Marvin? The main components of Brake

system are Service Brake and
Parking Brake

Very Good, Class…

I’m glad you have gain learning
from our previous topic.

Now, Let us proceed to our new

topic today.

6. Motivation

The teacher shows a video of

charging system and students will
identify what are it and its use.

Before we proceed to our new

topic, I will be presenting you a ( The students looking at the video)
video.

Okay class... what is the video all

about?

Yes, June? Miss, it is a charging system and it

is mostly used in cars, Motor
cycles, etc.

Yes, you have an idea June…

Yes class... all of your idea is

accepted and it is correct.

Now, based on the video I

presented, what do you think is
our topic for today class?

Anyone from the class.

Yes, Jhon? It is all about Charging System,

Miss…

Yes, Maybe.

Okay, I will reveal our topic today and

eyes on the board!

The topic that we are going to discuss is

all about “everybody read!
Charging System!
(The students reading the
objectives)

B. Lesson Proper
Before we proceed to our proper
discussion, kindly read first our objectives.

Charging System

• Restores to the battery the charge

removed to crank the engine. ( The students will listen to the

lights, radio and other electrical
and electronic equipment while the
engine is running.

Main parts
1. Alternator – converts mechanical
energy from the engine into electrical
energy
- Driven by crankshaft through
crankshaft pulley
- Usually mounted in the side of the
engine.
2. Voltage regulator – prevents the
alternator from producing excessive
voltage.
- Can be found outside the alternator or
can found be built-in inside the alternator.

- Also called generator or ac generator

3. Battery – main source of electricity

Voltage regulator
 It has two switches inside, 1st is to
control the voltage if the voltage is
low the switch will close to send
signal to the alternator to increase
the current and if the current is
enough the switch will open.
 The 2nd switch is connected to the
output current that charges the
battery. If the engine is off the
alternator will siphon electricity
from battery and has the
possibility of draining, this is the
time the 2nd switch will open to cut
the connection of battery and
alternator.

• Rectifier Diode – a device that is

used to converts alternating
current (ac) to direct current
(dc) .
• Delta or Y connection – a
connection that allows ac current
to flow to the diode to be rectified
and convert to dc.
• Slip ring – a ring that form a
rotating connection between the
armature windings and brushes.
• Rotor field winding – produces
magnetic field as the current
passes through it.
• Stator winding - collects
magnetic flux created by rotor
winding.
• Carbon brush - is an electrical
contact which conducts current
between stationary wires and
moving parts, most commonly in a
rotating shaft.

Types of Current

1. Alternating current (AC)

– Alternating current describes the

flow of charge that changes
direction periodically. As a result,
the voltage level also reverses
along with the current. AC is used
to deliver power to houses, office
buildings, etc.
- AC can be produced using a
device called an alternator

2. Direct current (DC)

-  Current only flows in one
direction. Voltage and current can vary
over time so long as the direction of flow
does not change.
- Almost all electronics projects and
parts for sale on spark fun run on DC.
Everything that runs off of a battery, plugs
in to the wall with an AC adaptor or uses a
USB cable for power relies on DC.

Power flow
1. Partial current
Battery – ammeter – ignition switch –
voltage regulator – insulated brush – slip
ring – rotor field winding – pole pieces –
slip ring – ground brush – battery (-).
2.Spin
Rotor field winding – pole pieces – stator
winding – delta or Y connection – rectifier
diode – battery terminal (+).

types of charge indicator

1. Ammeter – shows current flow to or

from the battery
2. Voltmeter – shows the voltage across
the battery or the charging voltage.
3. Charge indicator light – shows if the
battery is charging or not.

C. Application
Directions: Assemble and Dissemble the
Alternator of a Charging System.
(The students will perform the

order.

Is there any question?

No, Miss!
Class, I will give you time to finish your
performance.
Yes Miss!
Okay very good!

Okay, settle yourself class.

(The student finish their
performance)
D. Generalization

Now, let me ask you class.

So, class who among you here knows the

function of charging system?

Yes Anna?

It comprises alternator that

Very good Anna! maintains and keep the vehicle's
battery charged. Charging system
supplies electrical current to fire the
spark plugs, which ignite the
air/fuel mixture in the combustion
chamber; Alternators help to charge
What are the components of an automotive dead batteries, while the engine is

Yes, Mark?

Your vehicle's charging system

consists of three parts: the battery,
the alternator, and the voltage
regulator. The battery supplies the
necessary electrical power to start
