PROBLEM AND IT’S BACKGROUND
This chapter presents the background and purpose of the study, theoretical
framework conceptual framework, statement of the problem, scope and limitation of the
Background of study
A young person’s caregiving experience may lead to a career in medicine or social service.
However, being a caregiver also takes time from schoolwork, after-school activities and keeping
up with friends. Many strong emotions, including loneliness, despair, irritation, and feeling
different, can be produced by their increased obligations. These emotions can cause anxiety
and depressive symptoms, along with a lack of acceptance and support.
Problem statement
Young people who care for their parents face a variety of issues, including the inability to
concentrate on their studies, which results in the majority of them quitting school. They also
experience depression because of missing out on their childhood and making fewer friends, and
because many parents are ill, they risk hurting their own children, which is traumatizing for the
child. Being a child who looks after his parents is difficult.
Purpose statement
The purpose of this study is to determine the challenges and difficulties of youth as family
caregivers as basis of their love and respect to their aging parents. This study will also provide
the experiences of youth on how they deal with their aging parents as their caregivers. Also, I as
the researcher experienced taking care of my father who is sick, so I want to know their
experiences as well. The only way to motivate young is love by their parents.
Research questions:
1. What are the challenges and difficulties of youth as family caregiver of their aging
parent?
2. What motivates youth to take care of their aging parents?
3. How do their aging parents feel as their children take care of them?
Theoretical framework
In this study: The meaning of familial responsibility to older members was investigated by
interviewing two or three generations in families helping older family members in
noninstitutional settings. While most of them have their own families and often take care of the
youngest, all the siblings can do is support and help, especially financially. It's not easy to care
for a parent, especially if they can't stand or walk, you really need a caring man or even a strong
body.
