Community Health Nursing

Introduction- A community is a group of people with different cultures and beliefs, living in one
barangay. A group of individuals that value one another and believe they belong together. A family
consists of a group of people who are linked to one another, particularly parents and their offspring.
Community health nursing provides communities with preventative care, health services, and health
education, they visit institutions, businesses, and schools in Ucab, Itogon.

= Itogon is categorized as having a type II climate, which has two distinct seasons: rainy and dry.
Between December and March is the dry season, and the following months are the wet season. From
17.0mm in February to 1,432.9mm in August, on average, it rains each month.

= Barangay Ucab Itogon is located at the southernmost point of the Central Cordillera Mountain Range
and is an asymmetrically structured region with a north-south axis. With deep valleys and steep slopes,
the topography is typically hilly. Elevation ranges from 2,025 meters above sea level, mainly in Mt.
Yabaong of Barangay Tinongdan in the northeast, to 100 meters, particularly in the areas surrounding
San Manuel in Pangasinan at the southern point. The height climbs to the thousand-meter mark as it
moves from the south in a north and easterly direction, with Mt. Ugo on the eastern portion, which
borders the province of Nueva Vizcaya, having the greatest point elevation at 2,150 meters above sea
level.

= There are currently only a few Ibalois roaming the mountains and forests of Ucab, although the
barangay's history is thought to go back more than a century. Eighty years ago, during the gold mining
boom and the reopening of several mines in the municipality that were shuttered during World War
Two, the Kankanaeys arrived, bringing with them their expertise and technical know-how in small-
scale gold mining. Other ethnic groups from the Cordillera then followed.

= Originally, the municipality of Itogon is composed of eight barangays, namely, Poblacion, Dalupirip,
Tinongdan, Virac, Ampucao, Tuding, Loakan and Gumatdang. Barangay Gumatdang is composed of
seven sitios namely Ba-ayan, Ucab, Antamok Tram, Dalisay, Camasong, Lower Hekla, Upper Hekla and
Mill site.
