THE STORY OF SEVENTH DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH OF

CABOLO-AN SUR, OTON, ILOILO

The Seventh Day Adventist Church was founded through the efforts of Bro. Milvin
Cadiao when he came to Brgy. Cabolo-an Sur in the year 1987. Bro. Milvin Cadiao was
the son of the former baranggay captain, Tony Cadiao. He attended church services at
the local Seventh Day Adventist Church of Oton, located at J.C. Zulueta Street. He
became one of the youth members of the church. As he cared for his family members at
Cabolo-an Sur, Bro. Milvin strived to conduct a Bible study at their home together with
the leaders of the local church. His dream was realized through home visits and Bible
study efforts at their home with Bro. Cayetano Wendam, Bro. Samuel Sun, Sis. Corazon
Ronquillo, Sis. Magdalena Ronquillo, and the District Pastor Oseas Basco.

Their journey of sharing God's word was not easy, as sometimes they have to walk a
number of kilometers to the Oton Plaza since tricycles were scarce and the roads were
still not concrete. But this did not stop these brothers and sisters and they were not
discouraged of their dream. Bro. Milvin spoke to his uncle in Manila, Bro. Raul De Vera,
and asked him to donate a portion of the lot near their home. He was glad that his
request to Bro. Raul De Vera was granted, thus they conducted a Bible Crusade or
evangelistic effort in the area. Many people accepted Jesus Christ as their personal
saviour. The church structure was built in 1996, spearheaded by the first Layman of
Cabolo-an Sur Church, Pastor Oseas Basco. In the year 1997, Pastor Ronald Rada
continued to build the faith of the people, followed by Bro. Rodney Subigca, and
concurrently by Pastor Freddie Gandullas.

The Cabolo-an Sur Church was also an instrument that lead to the donation of the lot
located at San Antonio, Oton by Bro. Raul De Vera wherein the mother church was built.
The life of Cabolo-an Sur Church continues to live on accordingly to God's graciousness.
Now, the church is a stable structure at Brgy. Cabolo-an Sur and functions as one of its
landmarks. Concurrently, the church leaders who continuously nurture the church are
Bro. Roque Villavicencio, Bro. Rogelio Anas, and also Bro. Milvin Cadiao under the
leadership of the District Pastor Freddie Gandullas.

 Sa muling pagsasalaysay ni Bro. Samuel Sun

Ang Seventh Day Adventist Church ay itinatag sa pamamagitan ng pagsisikap ni Bro.

Milvin Cadiao nang dumating siya sa Brgy. Cabolo-an Sur noong taong 1987. Bro. Si
Milvin Cadiao ay anak ng dating kapitan ng barangay na si Tony Cadiao. Dumalo siya sa
mga serbisyo ng simbahan sa lokal na Seventh Day Adventist Church of Oton, na
matatagpuan sa J.C. Zulueta Street. Siya ay naging isa sa mga kabataang miyembro ng
simbahan. Habang inaalala niya ang kanyang mga kapamilya sa Cabolo-an Sur, sinikap ni
Bro. Milvin na magdaos ng pag-aaral sa Bibliya sa kanilang tahanan kasama ng mga
pinuno ng lokal na simbahan. Ang kanyang pangarap ay natupad sa pamamagitan ng
mga pagbisita sa bahay at pagsisikap sa pag-aaral ng Bibliya sa kanilang tahanan kasama
sina Bro. Cayetano Wendam, Bro. Samuel Sun, Sis. Corazon Ronquillo, Sis. Magdalena
Ronquillo, at ang Pastor ng Distrito na si Oseas Basco.

Hindi naging madali ang kanilang paglalakbay sa pagbabahagi ng salita ng Diyos, dahil
minsan kailangan nilang maglakad ng ilang kilometro patungo sa Oton Plaza dahil
kakaunti ang mga tricycle at hindi pa rin konkreto ang mga kalsada. Ngunit hindi ito
naging hadlang sa mga kapatid na ito at hindi sila pinanghinaan ng loob sa kanilang
pangarap. Nakausap ni Bro. Milvin ang kanyang tiyuhin sa Maynila na si Bro. Raul De
Vera, at hiniling sa kanya na mag-abuloy ng bahagi ng lote malapit sa kanilang tahanan.
Natuwa siya na ang hiling niya kay Bro. Raul De Vera ay pinagbigyan, kaya nagsagawa
sila ng Bible Crusade o evangelistic effort sa lugar. Maraming tao ang tumanggap kay
Jesu-Kristo bilang kanilang personal na tagapagligtas. Ang istraktura ng simbahan ay
itinayo noong 1996, na pinangunahan ng unang Layman ng Cabolo-an Sur Church, si
Pastor Oseas Basco. Noong taong 1997, nagpatuloy si Pastor Ronald Rada sa pagbuo ng
pananampalataya ng mga tao, na sinundan ni Bro. Rodney Subigca, at ni Pastor Freddie
Gandullas.

Ang Cabolo-an Sur Church ay isa ring instrumento na humantong sa donasyon ng lote na
matatagpuan sa San Antonio, Oton, ni Bro. Raul De Vera, kung saan itinayo ang inang
simbahan. Ang buhay ng Cabolo-an Sur Church ay patuloy na namumuhay ayon sa
kagandahang-loob ng Diyos. Ngayon, ang simbahan ay isang matatag na istraktura sa
Brgy. Cabolo-an Sur at nagsisilbing isa sa mga palatandaan nito. Kasabay nito, ang mga
pinuno ng simbahan na patuloy na nag-aalaga sa simbahan ay sina Bro. Roque
Villavicencio, Bro. Rogelio Anas, at Bro. Milvin Cadiao sa pamumuno ng District Pastor
Freddie Gandullas.
