Uploading CNX 200-20 Configuration

Setup the Expand via Hyper Terminal


1. From the Start menu select
2. “Accessories”
3. “Communications”
4. “Hyper Terminal”
5. Type “expand” under Name
6. Select appropriate “COM” port
• i.e. COM 1-4
7. Bits per second: 9600
8. Data bits: 8
9. Parity: None
10. Stop bits: 1
11. Flow Control: None
12. Click “OK,” and press “enter” once
Restore Expand to Default
13. Type “reset” for login
14. Type “reset” for password
15. Are you sure? Type “yes”
16. Press enter
17. The system will reboot on its own and return to the initial login
18. Login: “expand”
19. Password: “Expand”
20. Type “en” then enter
21. Type “config t” then enter
*There is a space between “config t”
22. Open up text file
23. Copy text file starting from the “second exclamation” point all the way down to “End”

24. Right click
25. Select “Paste to Host”
26. The file will copy on Hyper Terminal
27. Press “enter” once
28. Type “exit” press enter
29. Type “wr” press enter
30. “Creating configuration” will display, which means file has been saved to expand
31. To check the file just created
32. Type “sho run”
33. Continue pressing “enter” until 100%
34. Type “exit” to quit program
Restore Router to Default
35. Open a web browser
36. Type “ems.home” in the address bar
37. Click on “Login”

*Note: If prompted with a username and password;


• User name: admin
• Password: password
38. Select “System”
39. Select “Backup & Restore”
40. Select “Restore Factory Defaults”
41. The system will reboot

*Once the changes have been made to the router, you must perform a release, renew in the
command prompt
-ipconfig /release
-ipconfig /renew
42. Type “ems.home”

*Note: If the ems.home page doesn’t load type “192.168.1.1”

43. Select “Log In”


44. Type “password” for password
45. Re-enter “password”
46. Select “Set”
47. The router will indicate once the password is successful
48. Select “System”
49. Select “Backup and Restore”
50. Under “Restore Configuration” select “Browse”
51. Select configuration file
• i.e. NXXX_CNX_200-20_08082011.tgz
52. Select “Restore”

*Once the changes have been made to the router, you must perform a release, renew in the
command prompt
-ipconfig /release
-ipconfig /renew
Command Prompt
53. Select “Start Menu”
54. Select “All Programs”
55. Select “Accessories”
56. Select “Command Prompt”

57. Type “ipconfig /all”


58. Press “enter”
*Note: There is a space between ipconfig /all
59. ipconfig will display your current;
• IP address
• Default gateway
• Subnet mask
60. Type “ipconfig /release”
61. “0.0.0.0” will appear for IP address
62. Type “ipconfig /renew”
63. Default gateway and IP address change will change
64. Select “Home”
65. Select “Connect” under Action
66. When a connection is established you will receive an IP address
