Exercise: Story Structure

Title of work: Sightless by Cooper Karl

1. Exposition:

- In the beginning, there was a young lady named Ellen who steadily strolled to the balcony and she even
attempted to hop for some reason. A random man, later identified as Clayton, attacked Ellen one night as she was
walking down the street. He sprayed something on her eyes and left her completely blind. Later on, Ellen awakened
in an emergency clinic/facility without her sight. As a result, Clayton was hired to care for Ellen.

2. Inciting Incident:

- The brutal assault that left Ellen blind became a reason for her to deal with even more serious conflicts and issues.
Ellen's state likewise turns into a justification behind her to meet Clayton that she feels something off with him and the
people around her.

3-4. Rising Action: List some events that occur before the climax.

A. Ellen overheard a woman's wailing voice. She thought the noise was coming from her apartment, but the
vent was the source. One day, the woman introduced herself as Lana.
B. Clayton left the apartment one day when Ellen was attacked by another strange person. Before she passed
out, she was able to make the police call.
C. Ellen attempted to end it all through leaping off from the balcony. However, she later discovered that she
lives in a fictitious apartment.

5. Climax:

-It is when Ellen discovered everything. She realizes that everything is fake and not real. She began to examine the
place. She also discovered that it was Clayton who sets everything up. She gathers herself up to confront the things
that are happening.

6-7. Falling Action: List some events that occur after the climax.
A. Ellen thought of a plan to affirm her sentiments. Lana answered her questions about the situation and her
presence.
B. Knowing that Ellen is a violinist, Clayton prepared a fine meal for her and gave her a violin.
C. Ellen came up with the plan to assassinate Clayton and obtain the keys to escape that location. However,
her blindness makes it extremely difficult for her to escape.

8. Moment of Final Suspense:

- Despite being blind, Ellen is able to fight at the moment she escapes. Ellen prevented Clayton from overcoming
her after Clayton snatched her. Their fight created a suspenseful thriller about the outcome.

9. Resolution:

- Lana assisted Ellen with getting away. Together with Lana, Ellen was able to flee Clayton. They cooperate to
escape Clayton's hands. They are able to leave that location. Furthermore, a half year after the fact, Ellen had the
option to adapt up to all that and proceed with her fantasy to be a Violin player.

10. What does the main character learn or how does the main character change during the climax?

- Ellen had the option to acknowledge all that and figured out how to generally doubt anybody. She learned
everything she could about clayton, her attacker. She also showed her strength that even though she is blind, she
can fight and save her from the hands of Clayton. Sometimes people are exploiting us without knowing.
