Week 2 Day 1

Personal Story Project

I. Personal story Project Performance task

Sharing stories is a powerful way to connect with other people. By sharing your own personal story,
you can connect with others who are dealing with the same challenges as you are. Identify a situation or
challenge that change your life.

Write your story using the following guide questions:

1. What was it like and how did it make you feel?
2. How did you deal with the problem or find a way to live with it?
3. What did you learn about yourself and those around you?
4. What advice do you have for another teen going through the same thing?

Write in paragraph form each paragraph consisting of at least 3 or more sentences.

I am a "yes" person. I say yes if someone ask me to copy my assignment, I say yes to parties, hikes, dinners and
other get-togethers when, quite frankly, I don't have the time or energy to be there. My friends always ask me
to go out with them.

But the thing is, those sorts of events don't actually do anything to help me relax. Socializing is fun, but I'm
mostly an introvert, so it definitely drains me. Saying no is packed with guilt and I’m afraid of disappointing
someone.

But, I learn to say no to things I don't actually want to do and it’s help me a lot. I realized that Saying no doesn't
make you a bad person. It only makes you protective of your time and energy, which is something we all deserve
to be. If you're a yes-person because you believe saying no is selfish or wrong, it's time to let go of that belief.

I promise I'm not here to complain about how busy I am, I'm grateful for it all -- but I am here to tell you that you
can (and definitely should) take breaks for the sake of your mental health. I'm here to tell you that if you're a
yes-person like me, you should start practicing the art of saying "no."

SCORING:

How many “a” answers did you have for odd-numbered questions? 6
How many “b” answers did you have for even-numbered questions? 5

LEFT HEMISPHERE TOTAL: 11

How many “a” answers did you have for the even-numbered question? 3
How many “b” answers did you have for odd-numbered questions? 2

You are left-brained if your total score for the left hemisphere is 10 or more
You are right-brained if your total score for the right hemisphere is 10 or more.

What can you say about the Dominant brain hemisphere?

The theory is that people are either left-brained or right-brained, meaning that one side of their brain is dominant. If you’re mostly
analytical and methodical in your thinking, the theory says that you’re left-brained. If you tend to be more creative or artistic, you’re
right-brained.
What is your realization about this task in relation to the left and right hemispheres of your brain?
- The left brain is more verbal, analytical, and orderly than the right brain. It’s sometimes called the digital
brain. It’s better at things like reading, writing, and computations. The right brain is more visual and intuitive.
People sometimes refer to it as the analog brain. It has a more creative and less organized way of thinking.
