Cell Structure
Cell Structure
Introduction:
Cells are the basic unit of life, and they come in many different shapes and sizes.
All cells share some basic features, including a cell membrane, cytoplasm, and
genetic material.
Cell Membrane:
The cell membrane is a thin, flexible barrier that surrounds the cell and controls
what enters and exits the cell.
The lipid bilayer allows small, non-polar molecules to pass through easily, while
larger or polar molecules require specific transport proteins.
Cytoplasm:
The cytoplasm is the fluid-filled region inside the cell that contains all the
organelles and other cellular components.
The cytoskeleton, a network of protein fibers, provides shape and support for the
cell.
Genetic Material:
Genetic material is the information that controls the cell's functions and
characteristics.
Organelles:
Organelles are specialized structures within the cell that perform specific
functions.
The Golgi apparatus is responsible for modifying, sorting, and packaging proteins
and lipids for transport.
Lysosomes are responsible for breaking down and recycling cellular waste and
foreign substances.
Conclusion:
Different types of cells have different structures, but they all share certain basic
features.
