Special Knowledge/Skills: Health Science Technology Teacher

Job Summary
1. Plan individual and group activities to stimulate growth in intellectual growth,
problem solving skills, critical thinking skills as well as technical skills.
2. Provide a classroom and lab setting with hands-on activities that prepare students
in the health science technology field of study.
3. Implement differentiated instructional strategies and assist students in analyzing
and improving methods and habits of study.
4. Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
5. Assess student achievement consistently through formal and informal testing and
use results to plan instructional activities.
6. Teach writing processes, read and interpret data, problem solve, and teach basic
math concepts.
7. Maintain effective organizational, written, interpersonal oral communication and
classroom management skills.
8. Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirement of district,
college, industry and health science technology curriculum programs.
9. Implement curriculum activities that address the Texas Essential Knowledge and
Skills, college and industry standards.
10. Explain and discuss with students all rules and regulations of the school, college
and industry in preparation for careers or post-secondary professions.
11. Supervise activities inside and outside the classroom to ensure safety.
12. Serve as the HOSA advisor. 13. Plan Inquiry based projects. Program director for
the nurse aide class.

Educational background
 Two years of wage earning experience utilizing the licensure requirements
within the last five years.
 Valid SBEC certification in Health Science Technology Education with
approval from Career and Technical Education.
