2nd 9th Students will have an activity to identify the
context of the book and to explore some
possible ideas related to the story.

***IT IS IMPORTANT TO HIGHLIGHT THAT


ALL THE PRODUCTS THE STUDENTS MUST
PRESENT SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN A
FOLDER THAT WILL BE EVALUATED AS THE
LITERARY PORTFOLIO***

2. February February PART 1 LITERARY STYLE


10th 17th CH 1-4
1. Students will create a graphic organiser
to explain the concepts of metaphors,
allegories, similes and foreshadowing.
2. Write a short text to explain the possible
meaning of the screens and its
relationship with our current society.
3. Answer the following question in a
paragraph:

Discuss the purpose and significance of the


party slogans: war is peace, freedom is
slavery and ignorance is strength.

3. February February PART 1 CHARACTERISATION


20th 27th 5-8
Students will have to present two posters. In
each poster, they will include one character
of their choice and they will present their
conclusions about the character. They must
include speech, thoughts, effect on other
character, actions and looks.

Students can creatively present their


conclusions using drawings, graphic
organisers or any method of their choice.
The only thing they must include is evidence
from the text to support their conclusions.

4. February March 7th PART 2 ASSESSMENT READING


28th 1-5
Students will complete a guide that will
include some elements from the chapters
they have previously read.

They will deliver the guide to the teacher


analysing the required elements.

5. March 8th March 15th PART 2 SETTING, CONTEXT


6-10
Students will have to gather information
from the text to be able to draw Winston’s
house and to choose two or three different
locations from the novel and be able to
represent them in an image. They will have
to support their drawings or images with
evidence from the text.
6. March March 24th PART 3 STRUCTURE
16th 1-6
Considering students are almost done with
the book, they will have to present a graphic
organiser summarising the following
information from the book: plot, setting,
characters, point of view and style.
7. March April 11th POST ASSESSMENT ORAL COMMUNICATION
27th READING
Students will have to work in groups of
three. They will have to present a podcast

They will have to present their conclusions


and discuss this statement. They should use
evidence from the text and support their
findings in the literary terms they have been
working during the term.
8. April 12th April 19th PREREADING PREREADING CONCEPTS

Students will be divided in several groups.


They will receive some papers with
questions. They’ll have to research online
and present infographics showing what they
found. The concepts they’ll have to research
will be:

1. What is a dandy? How would a


dandy be in the XXI century?
2. What is beauty? Is there a universal
concept of beauty?
3. What is aesthetics? How has art
presented what is beautiful and
what is ugly?

9. April 20th April 27th CH 1-4 NARRATION

Students will present a summary of the type


of narrator that they are going to use. They
will have to explain in a text the type of
narrator that the author is using to tell the
story. They should use evidence from the
text to explain and expand on their ideas.
10. May 2nd May 9th CH 5-9 CHARACTERISATION

Students will have to work individually. They


will have to answer the following question

“what makes Dorian Gray a successful


character?”

They will have to analyse the elements of


characterisation they have learned during
the term and decide which product they will
use to present their answer to the question.
11. May 10th May 17th CH 10-13 ASSESSMENT WRITING

Students will receive a guide with some


topics that they will have to start exploring
in order to write an essay later in the term.

In this stage, they will have to deliver an


outline, including the topic they chose, and
how they have seen that topic in the book.
Besides they should draw some possible
conclusions on how the topic will be
developed in the rest of the novel.

12. May 18th May 26th CH 14-17 ISSUES, CONCERNS AND IDEAS IN
NARRATIVE

Students will have to choose one theme that


is covered in the book. They have been
previously discussed in the class. They will
have to show how the theme is developed in
the book by writing a one page text. They
should use evidence from the text to
support their ideas.

13. May 29th June 5th CH 18-20 ASSESSMENT WRITING

Students will have to write an essay


presenting their conclusions on the ideas the
received during cycle 11.
