Beliefs on Teaching and Learning (Pre and Post)

Pre-Teaching and Learning Beliefs
Before I eenrolled in this course, I think that the teachers are in charge of teaching, while students are
in charge of learning. There may or may not be a direct link between the two , when students are
actively involved in their learning, they learn more effectively; and students’ behavioral changes are
the best indicator of success.

Post Teaching and Learning Beliefs

When I work into the fields I see that when kids are given the opportunity to face actual challenges,
make decisions, and find answers, they learn more effectively, and prospective instructions must
immerse themselves in the same learning experiences as their pupils in order to discover how to
assist them learn.

Reflection on the field study areas observed

Ricca Joy Armilla
A Prodigal Son Luke 15

Ricca’s teaching demonstration was all about a parable from the book of Luke 15 entitled “A
Prodigal Son”, Ricca possesses a teacher-like-attitude in the class, she is also had a strong command in
English language. She used a deductive kind of approach in teaching, what good about Ricca were that
she really mastered her lesson and very excellent in reinforcing the lesson to the students.

I can reflect that Ricca’s teaching demonstration was one of the best demonstrations that I
witnessed myself, she is very good as I observed. She also knows how to process her students’
answers, she knows how to correct them and when to acknowledge them. She was also good on
questioning her students’, she uses guide questions appropriately to lead her students in the right
direction to easily attain her learning objectives.
Overall, Ricca’s performance started and ended smoothly. Thus, I learned a lot of things on
her teaching demonstration, I get a lot of techniques and strategies most in handling the students.
Furthermore, I reflect that to be a good teacher it takes a lot of courage, determination and faith; no
one last in this profession without a heart, because every day is battle between your faith and your
students’ attitudes, it’s a last man standing game.

Ma. Lizalyn Maali

Modal Verbs

Ma. Lizalyn’s teaching demonstration was a challenging one, as I observed she was having a
hard time in presenting her topic effectively. She was a kind of disturb for some reasons, maybe
because she has a low confidence. However, she still tries her best to teach her students in any way
that she can, it was that the level of her knowledge on the subject matter was not enough to attain
her learning objectives.

Furthermore, Ma. Lizalyn’s teaching demonstrations was quite good, despite the trials that
she encountered during that time she still managed to pass it. I therefore realized, that an effective
teacher knows how to handle stress and unexpected hardships; teachers are brave and wise, they are
potentials and extra-ordinary beings.

At the end, it was a great and productive day after all. Thus, Ma. Lizalyn’s teaching
demonstration made me reflect that in the teaching field, there are a lot of struggles a teacher has to
face, we all need to be dedicated and persevere in order to succeed. Moreover, teaching is a noble
profession that only accepted by a noble heart; no one enters teaching emotionally untouched,
everyone suffers from breakdowns, only those faithful, devoted and true-blue surpass.

Evidence of Learning

Retrospection

As a Field Study Student and an aspiring future educator, I learned a lot from my Field Study 1
journey. I learned that as a student I have to equip myself with the strategies and techniques in order
for me to become an effictive teacher someday. I need to feed myself with learnings that will shape
me to become an effective educator.

Furthermore, I realized that I should undergone a lot more before I submit myself in this career, I
need to evaluate myself to see whether I am capable enough in teaching little minds or not yet. I then
have to pamper myself with confidence and lore.

Thus, these experiences and learnings I got from this once in a lifetime opportunity will be cherish
forever; these will kept inside of me and use in the future. Morever, my student-life runs astonishingly
the moment I enrolled in this course, it made me see the beauty and art of teaching. My student-life
is now half complete as I close and finish this subject. Thus, in this life where nothing is constant,
there’s one thing is for sure, and that is I am mesmerized by this subject.
