Abstract: This paper is gives an insight to short range FM radio jammers. We will be discussing how the circuit works as a whole
and also component by component. Our main focus will be Mathematical Analysis involved in finding range of inductors that can
be used to jam all FM signals with the help of variable capacitor of 5pF to 35pF. Our intention is to use an inductor of known
inductance that is made from coil of wire of known turns, thickness and diameter. The circuit after successful testing on bread-
board, will be made on Printed circuit board. We will evaluate the variable capacitance that when attained produces high
frequency signal to jam FM channels namely: 89.0 and 101.0. Then we find compare this theoretical value with actual value that
found by using methods for capacitance measurements. We will apply methods to maximize range of our Jammer.

signal jammers or accidentally due to some unforeseen
interference from other transmissions.

Jammers work by giving a signal at the frequency same as

the wave expected by the device that’s being jammed, but at
a higher power compared to the targeted signal. This
decreases the signal to noise ratio to such an extent that the
device is unable to detect them. The jammer signal is a
random noise. Jammer can have one or multiple frequency
signal. The output power of the jammer device will typically
be stated in WATTS or in some cases DBM, (decibels per
meter), or both. [2]

The technology being used in mobile phone jammers is very

simple. It breaks down the network between base station

The circuit is powered by a 9V battery and not a 12V as
increasing voltage increases current and hence produces
more heating effect which damages the components. The
capacitor C1 is used to stabilize the input signal of 9V.

VC1 (variable capacitor) and L1 is minimum. Transistor Q1
is used as an amplifier. It amplifies the base current by
factor of β (current gain). C2 is used to stabilize the voltage
across the base of Q1 and ground. LED is used as an
indicator of current follow through the inductor. Without it
one cannot know the proper working and complete current
path of circuit.VC1 and L1 constitute the tank circuit which Lmin will not be taken as for this f=108MHz to 290MHz

frequency easy tuning.

V. MAXIMIZING RANGE
In order to maximize the range of jammer and the simple
wire antenna which was used initially was replaced by a
radio antenna. This increased the range of jamming from 1
meter to 25 meter. Use of a dipole or quadrupole antenna
can further increase the range.
