LEVEL 1: NUMBER IDENTIFICATION

DESCRIPTION: The number identification exercise occurs toward the beginning of the EGMA to
establish an understanding of children’s knowledge and identification of written symbols. Here,
students orally identify printed number symbols that are randomly selected and placed in a grid
(Clarke & Shinn, 2004).

DIRECTION:

1. Place a grid of numbers in front of the learner.


2. Start the stopwatch for 60 seconds as soon as the child starts responding.
