Table 2 shows the distribution of the respondents based on

their knowledge on each of the item in the test.

It can be gleaned from the table that more than half of the

respondents were able to answer correctly in only 8 of 18


(44.44%) items. These items are: “8. When a person suffers from

complete obstruction of the airway, the following procedure

should be performed?” (22 or 91.67%); “12. What are the main

symptoms of a fracture?” (22 or 91.67%); “9. External bleeding

is managed by?” (21 or 87.50%); “16. Which is the first step in

caring for bleeding wounds?” (21 or 87.50%); “13. An ankle

sprain is treated by?” (19 or 79.17%); “14. First and

superficial burns are managed through?” (18 or 75.00%); “15. A

patient with hypoglycemia is treated with?” (18 or 75.00%); and

On the other hand, 12 (50.00%) of the respondents got the

correct answer to 1 (5.56%) item: “2. An elderly woman had a
