    I. Objectives
    At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
    A. Note details in a story read.
    B. Relate confidence to one’s success in life.
    C. Participate actively in class discussion.

    II. Subject Matter


    Topic: Dahong Palay by Arturo B. Rotor
    Reference: Communication Arts and Skills 8(Afro-Asian Literature), pp. 171-
    178
    Materials: PowerPoint Presentation, chalkboard

    III. Procedure
    A. Activity
    Ask: What specific situation have you experienced that helped you develop
    your self-confidence?
    B. Analysis
    1. The teacher will process the activity to link it to the lesson for the day.
    2. The teacher will ask the students to answer the activity in Vocabulary
    Building on page 179.
    3. The teacher will introduce the lesson which is a short story entitled Dahong
    Palay by Arturo B. Rotor (assigned for home reading a day before).

    C. Abstraction
    1. The students will be grouped into four to answer the comprehension
    questions on page 180. Reporting and discussion will follow after 15 minutes.
    2. The students will be asked of the following:
    a. In what instance did Sebio show more courage: when he saved Merci from
    the snake or when he cured himself from the snakebite? Explain.
    b. Is it right to mock or ridicule a person because of his weaknesses? Why?

    D. Application
    The students will be asked of the following:
    Should we be very critical of others? Explain your answer.

    IV. Evaluation
    Answer the following question: How will you relate confidence to one’s
    success in life? Explain your answer. The students will answer it based on
