READ AND WRITING GROUP ACTIVITY

1.) Write a narrative about the topic below.

Topic 1- Experiences Where I Learned Appearances Can Be Deceiving

The outer appearance of people is the first thing that can be seen in the
beginning. However, when we meet someone, we shouldn't judge them only by the way
they look, because most of the time, that can be deceiving. If someone is beautiful, then
he or she must be of good character, but physical appearances should not be the
measure of good.  Some people's beauty might serve as a cover for their true
personalities and attitudes. Not all ugly people are bad, and not all those who have the
looks are good.

When I was in kindergarten, I had this friend who is really pretty; she has an
angelic face and a sweet voice. We all like her because of how polite she is to
everyone. Well, that's what I thought. We were once left alone, and I was talking to her
at the time, but when I turned to face her, she wasn't paying attention. When I
questioned her about why she wasn't listening, she snapped at me, which astonished
me. At the time, I wanted to cry because I was confused about what I had done to
offend her.

So it turns out that she is only nice when everyone is looking at her because she
only wants the attention that we are giving her. This experience of mine shows that
appearances can be deceiving; just because she has an angelic face and a pleasant
voice that does not imply that she is also nice.

2.) Write a descriptive paragraph about the topic below.

Topic 2- The most ideal country for you.

An ideal country, to me, would possess certain qualities that align with my
preferences and interests. In terms of climate, I prefer mild to warm temperatures year-
round. Additionally, I appreciate a diverse and stunning landscape, encompassing
rolling hills, vast mountainside ranges, and coastal waters.

Culture is also a major factor for me, as I desire a country that is rich in history,
art, music, and delicious cuisine, allowing me to immerse myself in its unique traditions.
Safety is another crucial component, as I want to feel secure in my daily activities and
not have to worry about my personal well-being.
Moreover, a stable and fair government is essential for a well-functioning
society, and I seek a country that maintains just policies for its citizens. Finally,
economic stability is key, as I would like to reside in a country where there are plenty of
job opportunities and a healthy work-life balance.

3.) Write a definition paragraph about the topic below.

Topic 3- Racism

The racism is a long lasting and pressing problem which affects millions of
people from across the world. It can hurt the emotion or feelings of someone. Racism is
the idea that one race is fundamentally better or worse than another, as well as the
prejudice, abuse, and discrimination that follow from this idea.

Racism can take many forms, including personal behaviors and attitudes as well
as institutional and systemic activities that uphold racial privilege and inequality.
Additionally, it may entail prejudices, stereotypes, and unfavorable views toward
members of a specific race. Racism has the potential to have detrimental effects on
both individuals and groups, such as unequal access to opportunities and resources,
discriminatory legal treatment, and violence or abuse based on race.

4.) Write a classification paragraph about the topic below:

Topic 4- My Study Habits

My study habits can be classified into three categories: time management,

environment, and learning style. Firstly, I manage my time effectively by creating a
schedule and sticking to it. This helps me prioritize tasks and allocate enough time for
each subject.

Secondly, I ensure that my study environment is conducive to learning by

minimizing distractions and keeping it organized. This helps me stay focused and
motivated.

Thirdly, I understand my learning style and adapt my study techniques

accordingly. For instance, I use visual aids like diagrams and charts to help me
understand complex concepts. Additionally, I prefer to study in short bursts with
frequent breaks in between as it helps me retain information better. Lastly, I make sure
to review my notes regularly to reinforce what I've learned.
As a result, I am able to maximize my productivity and succeed academically by
time-managing effectively, creating a conducive study environment, and adapting my
study techniques to my learning preferences.

5.) Write an exemplification paragraph about the topic below. Be sure to plan your

Topic 5- Corruption Is the Root Cause of Poverty

Corruption is a pervasive problem that plagues many countries around the world.
Unfortunately, it is often the root cause of poverty. When government officials or public
servants are corrupt, they divert funds that could have been used to provide essential
services such as education, healthcare, and infrastructure to their personal accounts.
This leaves the poor and vulnerable without access to basic necessities, perpetuating
the cycle of poverty. For example, in many developing countries, corrupt officials siphon
off funds meant for public schools, leaving children without access to quality education.
This lack of education perpetuates the cycle of poverty, as those without an education
are less likely to secure well-paying jobs. Ultimately, corruption undermines the potential
of a country to develop and improve the living standards of its citizens, contributing to
widespread poverty. Corruption refers to dishonest or fraudulent conduct by individuals
in positions of power or authority, such as government officials or business leaders, who
use their influence for personal gain at the expense of the public. Corruption can take
many forms, including bribery, embezzlement, nepotism, and extortion. It is a pervasive
problem that affects all sectors of society and has serious consequences, including
poverty.

Corruption undermines economic development and social progress by diverting

resources away from essential services such as education, healthcare, and
infrastructure. When corrupt officials embezzle funds that were meant for public
services, the poor are left without access to these basic necessities, perpetuating the
cycle of poverty. Corruption also undermines public trust in institutions, leading to a
breakdown in the rule of law and social cohesion. In many cases, corruption is linked to
other social ills, such as organized crime, drug trafficking, and terrorism, which can
further exacerbate poverty and insecurity.

Addressing corruption requires a multi-pronged approach that includes strict

enforcement of anti-corruption laws, promotion of transparency and accountability, and
building public trust in institutions. This requires the involvement of all stakeholders,
including government, civil society, and the private sector. By fighting corruption, we can
promote sustainable development, reduce poverty, and build more equitable and just
societies. Corruption is a pervasive problem that plagues many countries around the
