Reason: To provide inspection c r i t e r i a for the pins on seCond stage turbine

rotors which are Post SB 72-0903.

Use the following step 2.F.(6) in lieu of existing step 2.F.(6).

2. F. (6) Perform dimensional inspection of rotating knife seals. Diameter

of each knife seal shall be 3.525 to 3.535 inch. (See Figure
209A.)

Use the following steps 2.F.(8) and (9) in l i e u of existing steps 2.F.(8) and
(9).
2. F. (8) (Pre SB 72-0903) Visually inspect turbine wheel rivets as follows.
(a) Inspect turbine wheel for evidence of loose r i v e t s . I f loose
r i v e t s are suspected, check f o r movement using l i g h t force
(approximately 5 pounds). No movement allowed. Refer to Ap-
proved Repairs.

(b) Distorted r i v e t s are acceptable unless f l a r e of r i v e t is

distorted over 50 percent of the diameter. Refer to Approved
Repairs.

(9) (Post SB 72-0903) Visually inspect turbine wheel pin as follows.

(See Figure 210B.)
(a) Inspect turbine wheel f o r evidence of loose pins. I f loose
pins are suspected, check f o r movement using l i g h t hand force
(approximately 5 to I0 pounds). Pin axial movement shall not
exceed 0.030 inch.

(b) Inspect pin f l a r e on both ends. Pins shall be flared 360 de-
grees around. Entire circumference of f l a r e at each end shall
extend into or beyond corner break on wheel surface.

(c) Using IOX magnification and bright l i g h t , v i s u a l l y inspect pin

f o r cracks. Cracks are not allowed.

(d) Inspect turbine wheel for missing pins. Discard turbine wheel
i f one or more pins are missing.

(e) Second stage turbine rotor which have loose pins or unaccepta-
ble pin flares may be sent to the following repair f a c i l i t y .
