I. DESCRIPTION

A senior high school student must participate in work immersion in a field that is directly related to
their postsecondary objective. Students are exposed to and familiarized with job-related surroundings
pertaining to their area of expertise through work immersion, which helps them become more
competent.
By being exposed to the daily operations of a real work environment, students learn how to think like
an adult, manage their finances effectively, and be exposed to acquiring other related skills.

Work immersion refers to the subject of the senior high school curriculum, which involves hands-on
experience or work simulation in which learners can apply their competencies and acquired knowledge
relevant to their track.

Work immersion is a key feature in the Senior High School curriculum and refers to the part of that
consists of 80 hours of hands-on experience or work simulation which Grade 12 students will undergo
to expose them to the actual work setting and to enrich the competencies provided by the school.

Work immersion provides Senior High School learners with opportunities to become familiar with the
workplace, simulate employment, and to apply their competencies in areas of specialization or applied subjects
in actual work environment to prepare learners for all curriculum exits.

This aims to better equip senior high school students for college, work or business; develop life and career
skills; and have attitudes, appreciation and respect for work. It also allows them to have a smooth transition
from school to work after they gain valuable experience.

II. ORGANIZATION
LETTER TO THE READER

Greetings, cherished readers! Good Day to all!

We are all TVL H.E Grade 12 students at Balingasa High School, and I hope we all graduate. I
hope you are all doing well these days. Before any of us graduate, though struggle to meet our
academic objectives. An abundance of assignments will be given, projects to finish as well as academic
obligations like this job immersion. This because we venture outside of the classroom to learn new
skills or lessons in collaboration.

In addition to working outside, we also interact with others and learn about their cope with their
actions and their motivations. Immersion in work does not indicate. that you will cooperate with others
to help you get by our activities in school. Rather, we engage in this activity to get to know them
better. By collaborating with the aid of others, and we do this not by heeding their advice as we do
in but by paying attention to them so that we can do what we need to do and helping them lighten
their workload. Moreover, work immersion allows us to understanding how to increase productivity
among employees or they were effective in their efforts.

This educational activity enables us to apply what we have learned in real situations.

work immersion of basis for the implementation as basis for the implementation of the work
immersion in all senior high school. (SHSs). This is came from relatively large body of research
on professional development initiatives that aim to facilitate teaches adaption on his pedagogical
approach ( Crawford,2017). This start from the “Teach as you Preach” Principle which is about
putting into practice what teaches as expected to do in than our classrooms. This principles has
its roots in social learning theory which states that “most of the behavior that people exhibit are
learned either either deliberately or in deliberately through the influence of people
example(Bandura,1971).
In line with this theoretical framework, Lortie (1975) found that teachers’ long
‘apprenticeship of observation’ during their own time as student caused them to teach very
similar to how they themselves were taught. Even so, there do appear to be certain limits to the
power of educational, as studies indicate that complexities of classroom’s life may constrain
teacher’s ability to provide instruction in line with their careers.
Not much is known about the exact impact of immersion on educational beliefs, even
though some have argued that it is likely to fail produce the desired results without a meta-
commentary that makes underlying ideas explicit (Swennen, Lunenberg,& Korthagen,2008).
According to a review by Capps et al. (2012),one of the main reasons behind this lack of
knowledge is that very few professional development initiatives have systematically assessed
student’s educational beliefs beliefs. As such, studies aim to investigate the effectiveness of
work-immersion in their career path
One of the Goals of the k-12 basic Education Program is to develop in learners the
competencies, work ethic, and values relevant to pursuing further education or joining the world
of work. In order to achieve a greater congruence between basic education and the country’s
development targets, Work immersion, a required subject, has been incorporated into the
curriculum. This subject will provide the learners with opportunities:
1. For employment simulation;
2. To become familiar with the work place;
3. To apply their competencies in areas of specialization and applied subjects in
authentic work environments;
4. Enhance the skills and aptitude of the work immersionist to be competitive and
possess a capability of being a student;
5. Assist the student to look for a suitable career path; and
6. Strengthen the parent-teacher relationship and the school-parent relationship that
leads into the betterment of their students.
The main goal of education is the development of student’s capability to manage
information in order to solve problem or make everyday decision, choosing the right career for
college, there are recent educational reform initiatives, especially within learning which

advocated the inquiry-based learning(IBL) in school (Brand & Moose,2011). It is pedagogic

Objectives of Work Immersion

A goal of the K–12 basic education program is to help students acquire the skills, work ethic, and values
necessary for continuing their education or entering the workforce. Work immersion has been included as an
obligatory subject to the curriculum in an effort to better align fundamental education with the nation’s
development objectives. The students will have opportunity in this topic to:

1. In order to simulate employment

2. to become accustomed to one’s workplace;
3. to use their knowledge of specialized subjects and practical skills in real-world workplace settings;
4. enhancing the work immersionist’s abilities and talents to make them more competitive and capable of being
students;
5. help the student find a professional path that is appropriate; and
6. the parent-teacher relationship and the parent-school relationship should be strengthened because these
relationships have a positive impact on the pupils.

The primary objective of education is the growth of students’ information management skills, which are
necessary for problem-solving, daily decision-making, and selecting the best college major (Brand & Moose,
2011). Recently, there have been initiatives for educational reform, particularly in the area of learning, which
have advocated inquiry-based learning (IBL) in the classroom. It is a pedagogical strategy that gives students
real-world problems and resources to help them draw conclusions. Deped Order No. 30, which was signed on
June 5, 2017, contained the guidelines for work immersion of basis for the implementation of the work
immersion in all senior high schools. (SHSs).

Duration of Place and Training

The work-immersion starts at February 6, 2023 and finished at April 01,2023. The total number of
hours is 200 hours to qualified as graduate of the subject- Work Immersion/practicum. The training
field, SHAKEYS PIZZA PARLOR is located at the Ground Floor left side of Ayala Malls Cloverleaf.

History

Shakey’s Pizza is a pizza restaurant chain based in the United States. Founded in 1954, it was the

first franchise pizza chain in the United States. In 1968, the chain had 342 locations. The chain had about 500
stores globally, and 58 in the United States, as of July 2019. Currently, the stores can be found in the states
of California and Washington, as well as in the Philippines, Singapore and Japan. The Founder or owner of
Shakeys are Sherwood “Shakey” Johnson and Ed Plummer. Johnson’s nickname resulted from nerve damage
following a bout of malaria suffered during World War II. The parlor opened on a weekend, but since the pizza
ovens were not yet completed only beer was served. Shakey took the profits from beer sales and bought
ingredients for pizza the following Monday.

Shakey’s has been creating over 40 years of great times and great memories in the Philippines. Having started
its first store in Metro Manila way back in 1975, Shakey’s now operates nationwide with a strong store count of
307 stores, comprising of 171 Company-owned stores and 136 franchised stores*.

Observation and Insight

On the first day when I entered the training area as a FOH, I immediately noticed the beautiful ambience of the
area and the vastness of the area. It's early in the morning and they're already busy fixing and cleaning the
dining area after setting the table arrangements and soon after a stock delivery arrives and they go straight to the
kitchen. This happens every morning and when it comes to noon, the guests or customers start to arrive,
especially in the evening when the number of guests increases and I notice that their movements are very
professional, they act quickly, they are very attentive to the guests and we've been walking here and there for
almost 8 hours, the FOH staff don't seem to get tired because you can see from their actions that they are
determined and happy to serve the customer, and when I came in as a BOH I observed that they do more BOH
staff are alert especially when it comes to the order and I also noticed that they always follow the standard of the
orders they make and their movements are very professional they are fast and they never lose cooperation and
communication with each other and they also let their area get dirty every 30 mins they mop the floor and clean
the area.
