Definitions                          
Evidence-The available body of facts or
information indicating whether a belief or
proposition is true or valid.
Example- a thing characteristic of its kind or
illustrating a general rule.                        
Main Idea- The main idea of a paragraph is the
author's message about the topic. It is often
expressed directly or it can be implied.               
Supporting Detail- Supporting details are
reasons, examples, facts, steps, or other kinds of
evidence that explain the main idea. Major
details explain and develop the main idea.
Minor details help make the major details
clear.                                       
Objective- (of a person or their judgment) not
influenced by personal feelings or opinions in
considering and representing facts.         
Summary- a brief statement or account of the
main points of something.                         
Transitional Words-  Transition words and
phrases (also called linking words, connecting
words, or transitional words) are used to link
together different ideas in your text. They help
the reader to follow your arguments by
expressing the relationships between different
sentences or parts of a sentence.               
Phrase- a small group of words standing
together as a conceptual unit, typically forming
a component of a clause.
