The training on Gender Sensitivity and Mental Health Awareness for the teachers
teaching in P.M.R.M. S - North is crucial in creating a safe and inclusive learning
environment for all their pupils. It aims to promote gender equality, break down
gender stereotypes, and empower girls and boys to reach their full potential. With
teachers being knowledgeable about gender sensitivity, they can provide a
classroom environment free from gender bias, discrimination, and harassment.
Additionally, teachers who are trained in mental health awareness can identify
signs of distress among their pupils and provide appropriate support and resources.
Rationale
This training is essential in addressing the growing concerns of mental health
issues such as anxiety, depression, and stress among children and adolescents. By
fostering positive relationships with their pupils and providing a supportive
learning environment, teachers can help students develop positive social skills,
improve their academic performance, and increase their resilience. Ultimately, this
training can help meet legal and ethical obligations for the school to provide a safe
and inclusive learning environment for all pupils, benefiting both the teachers and
pupils alike.
