Objective:
Materials Needed:
Badminton rackets
Shuttlecocks
Badminton court or designated playing area
Cones or markers for court boundaries
Stopwatch or timer
Lesson Plan:
1. Start with a brief warm-up activity to prepare the students' bodies for physical activity.
This can include light jogging, stretching exercises, and arm circles.
Demonstration (10 minutes): 3. Demonstrate the basic grip, footwork, and hitting
techniques used in badminton. Show students how to hold the racket correctly and the
different strokes such as the forehand and backhand. Highlight the importance of
maintaining balance and using the wrist for control.
Skill Practice (15 minutes): 4. Divide the class into pairs or small groups and allocate a
playing area for each group. Assign one student to be the server and the other to be the
receiver.
5. Instruct the students to practice serving and returning the shuttlecock to each other
using the correct techniques demonstrated. Encourage them to focus on accuracy and
control rather than power.
Game Practice (15 minutes): 6. Introduce a modified version of a doubles game to the
students. Each group will consist of two pairs who will compete against each other.
7. Set up a small-sized court using cones or markers for boundaries. Allow students to
practice their skills in a game-like situation, focusing on serving, rallying, and scoring
points.
8. Emphasize the importance of communication, teamwork, and positioning during the
game.
Discussion and Reflection (10 minutes): 10. Gather the students together and have a
brief discussion about their experience during the lesson. Ask them to reflect on what
they learned, their strengths, and areas for improvement. Encourage them to ask
questions and provide feedback.
Extension Activities (optional): 12. Provide resources such as videos, articles, or online
tutorials for students to explore and learn more about badminton outside of class.
Note: The duration of each activity may vary based on class size, skill level, and the
specific needs of the students. Adjust the lesson plan accordingly to suit your teaching
style and time constraints.
