 CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION

A. Background of the Research

In this term, the writer is going to discuss the introduction such as
discussing the language in general, pragmatics, speech acts, and also podcast.

B. Research Question
The research Question that the writer plans is “what are the speech
acts used in podcast video”
C. Objective of the Research

Based on research question mentioned above, the writer decides to

write the objective of the research as “To identify the speech acts used in the
podcast”.

D. Significant of the research

The section in significant of the research divided into two, those are
theoretically and practically. Theoretically, the result of the study is expected
to gain more information about pragmatics specially in speech acts term.
Meanwhile, practically there are some advantages that we can get from this
study such as:

CHAPTER II
REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE
A. Literature Review
 In this part, the writer is going to write some review related to the material
or literature that the writer going to discuss.
1. Speech Acts
The first literature is about speech acts. The writer going to discuss the
speech acts and mentioned the definition and also the types of speech act
and any other that contains about speech acts.

B. Podcast

Here, the writer will discuss the podcast such definition of Podcast and
so on.

C. Previous Study
In this chapter, the writer will show the previous study dealing with
the topic.

CHAPTER III

RESEARCH METHOD

A. Research Design
Talking about research design, the researcher wants to conduct the
research using qualitative descriptive approach and the data will collect in the
form of words rather than numbers.

B. Research Instrument
The research instrument in this study will be the researcher herself.
Thus, in this research, the researcher herself was the main instrument who
played the role as the designer, the data collector, the analyst, the data
interpreter, and reporter of the research finding.
C. Data Collection Technique
 The researcher used documentation method as the technique of
collecting data because the researcher used transcript and video podcast.

D. Data Analysis
In this chapter, the writer will analyze the data using several stages
those are data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing.
