Praise be to Allah SWT who has made it easy for me so that I can finish this
paper on time. Without his help, of course, I would not be able to complete this
paper properly. Shalawat and greetings may be bestowed upon our beloved Prophet
Muhammad SAW whom we look forward to for his intercession in the hereafter.
I certainly realize that this paper is far from perfect and there are still many

INTRODUCTION
A. Background
One type of text introduced in class XI SMA is Analytical Exposition. Type the text is
quite new for some teachers, including the author's own. Authors have difficulty in conveying
the text to students. To overcome this problem, the authors berinisiatih to find as much
information about this text and trying to divide the information to teachers of English.
After a long search finally the authors found an article about how to make the argument
(because the core of this text students are taught to argue).

DISCUSSION

A. Definition of Analytical Exposition

Analytical Exposition is one form of argumentation text. English experts define analytical
exposition text as follows: "Analytical exposition is a text that elaborates the writer's ideas
about the phenomenon surrounding". If translated into Indonesian language is an analytical
exposition text is a text or texts which describe the author's opinion about the phenomenon
that is happening around us.
The exhibition is a text that outlines the ideas surrounding the author of the phenomenon.
The social function is to convince the reader that the idea is the important thing.

B. Analytical Exposition Function

1.Conveying Ideas or Thoughts from the Author
The first function of analytical exposition is to convey ideas in the text of the author. As we
know, there are various types of writings or texts that may not come from the author's own
ideas. Well, this analytical exposition is a type of text that comes purely from the author.
2. Convincing the Reader that the Idea in the Text is Important
The next function of analytical exposition is to convince the reader that the ideas in the text
are very important. To support the ideas in the text, the author usually attaches supporting data
of a scientific nature. In the example text above, the author does not include scientific data, but
he still convinces the reader that his ideas are important.

 C. Generic Structure Analytical Exposition
1. Thesis
Thesis in part, the author introduces ideas about the topic or subject that
will be discussed. Thesis is always in the first paragraph of Analytical
Exposition Text.
2. Argument
In this section the author presents arguments or opinions that support the
main idea of the author, usually in an Analytical Exposition Text there are
more than two arguments. More and more arguments that appear
increasingly believe the reader that the topics covered by the authors is a
very important topic or need attention
3. Reiteration
This section is the concluding part of an Analytical Exposition Text is
always located at the end of the paragraph. Reiteration contain the rewriting
or redeployment of the main ideas contained in the first paragraph.
Reiteration is also commonly called the conclusion or conclusions and
sometimes advice.

1.Thesis
COVID-19 health protocol violators should be sanctioned. As we know, the number of
people infected with the covid virus is still increasing in our country, but some people still
ignore the health protocol by not wearing mask and keeping their distance.

2. Argument
Firstly, the violators will continue to ignore the health protocol suggested by the
government if they aren’t sanctioned. By being sanctioned, they will feel deterred and
ashamed so that in the future they will obey the rules given.
Secondly, by sanctioning the violators, they will understand responsibility. Not only does
it prevent us from being infected by the virus, but adhering to health protocols also keep
others safe. We may not feel infected, but at least we prevent bad things by continuing to
keep distance and wearing masks. That way, we will fulfill our responsibilities to ourselves
and others.
Lastly, giving sanctions to the violators will make them more aware of the danger of
COVID-19. It is said that WHO declared COVID-19 a pandemic, which means that this
virus is very dangerous, so it is best to continue to maintain health and avoid COVID-19.

3. Reiteration
Therefore, the health protocol violators should be sanctioned because of the reasons given
above.
