SCHOOL-BASED FEEDING PROGRAM

ACTIVITY DESIGN

RATIONALE

Pursuant to DepEd Order no. 10, s. 2022 and as stipulated in D.O. no. 8 s.
2007, Muzon High School spearheaded by the schoolhead Mrs. Cristina T.
Santiago, and Feeding Coordinator Mrs. Valentina T. Sevilla, together with the TLE
teachers, launched the School-Based Feeding Program (SBFP) on March 27, 2023,
which was continued daily until March 31, 2023, in order to intensify health and
nutrition among learners as their BMI improved. SBFP aims to address the
necessary nourishment among the SBFP recipients, support learners’ access to
nutritious foods needed by the body, provide well-prepared foods of high nutritional
value, and improve learner’s body mass index after the SBFP implementations. The
said program was funded by the school-managed canteen.

As such, MHS aims to continue providing healthy foods to learner-recipients

while they are at school to help them improve their BMI. Thus, MHS will continue
implement the School-based Feeding Program (SBFP) for the month of May 2023 to
provide necessary nourishment and, in the process, to improve education and
health outcomes by implementing effective school feeding programs. This program
aims to achieve zero malnutrition rate of the school. The beneficiaries of the
aforementioned initiative would be identified severely wasted learners in grades 7 to
10 based on their most recent BMI.

OBJECTIVES
The program aims to:
a. continue implement the school support feeding program as stipulated in
D.O. no. 8 s. 2007
b. address the necessary nourishment among the SBFP recipients and
promote food security in order to avoid nutrient deficiency;
c. support learners’ access to nutritious foods needed by the body;
d. provide well-prepared foods of high nutritional value; and
e. improve learner’s body mass index after the SBFP implementations

METHODOLOGY

SBFP will be implemented three times a week, on Monday,

Wednesday, and Friday, for the month of May 2023.
