Rationale
Food is beneficial for the physical, mental, and psychosocial
development of school-age children. It empower thems and give them proper
nutrition to go on with their everyday lives and be more responsible students;
eventually helping them aspire to a brighter future.
With the occurrence of the COVID 19, proper nutrition and a
healthy lifestyle are two of an individual’s basic needs. Providing them effective
and sustainable source of nutritional meals will help to improve the health and
welfare of these individuals.
Bagong Silang Elementary School came up with the program
called Food to Fuel, which aims provide meals with high nutritional value which
will help them boost their immune system in order to figth the symptoms of
COVID 19 and also to increase their attendance and participation to discussion
while attending their face to face classes. With this program we believe that the
learners in the long run will have healthy mind and body and become well-
developed individuals.

Mechanism
The School Head, SDRRM Coordinator, Asst. Coordinator and all
teachers from Bagong Silang Elementary School, in collaboration with the parents,
community and all donors participated in the program and implemented the
following best practices.
1. Provide nutritious meals given to our learners to boost their health,
carefully prepared by our teacher Kitchen Heroes that promote health
and development.
2. Filling up their stomach with healthy and delicious meals that will lead
to better performance in schools.
3. Engaging stakeholders: such as parents and other donors to extend their
hand in contributing ingredients or food to be shared by the learners.

 The nutrition that they get from the meals given to them boost
their health and give stamina to stay strong and healthy to
fight the diseases cause by COVID 19.
2. Filling up their stomach with healthy and delicious meals that will lead
to better performance in schools.
 Learners cannot study well with empty stomach, so with the
help of the food that they intake they were able to perform at
their best in school.
3. Engaging stakeholders: such as parents and other donors to extend their
hand in contributing ingredients or food to be shared by the learners.
 The spirit of volunteerism, kindness and community spirit was
ignited and highlighted as parents and donors able to share
wholeheartedly.
