Celebrating National Teachers Month: Honoring Filipino Educators

National Teachers’ Month School-Based Kick off

National Teachers Month (NTM), observed from September 5 to October 5 annually, is a

month-long celebration that pays tribute to Filipino teachers and educators for their significant
contributions to shaping the nation's future. In 2022, this celebration takes on added significance
under the theme, "Gurong Pilipino, Dangal ng Sambayanang Pilipino." This commemoration was
initiated through Proclamation No. 242, series of 2011, and culminates on October 5, which
coincides with both National Teachers' Day (NTD) and World Teachers' Day (WTD).
The School-Based Kick-off Celebration:
The Bagong Silang Elementary School enthusiastically marked the start of National
Teachers Month on September 19, 2022. Teachers, students, and non-teaching staff gathered at
Phase 1, the covered court, to kick off this momentous occasion. The Grade 2 teachers played a
pivotal role in facilitating the event, and the School Parent Teacher Association was also invited to
participate in this grand opening ceremony.
The program commenced with the resonating strains of the Nationalistic song, setting the
patriotic tone for the celebration. This was followed by a heartfelt prayer, conveyed through an
audiovisual presentation. Mrs. Maria Jovita B. Singzon, the school head, extended her warm
welcome and appreciation to everyone present.
A Showcase of Student Talent: One of the highlights of the kick-off ceremony was the impressive
display of talents by students at various grade levels. Each performance was a heartfelt dedication
to their teachers, showcasing the deep respect and gratitude students hold for their educators.
Activities to Celebrate National Teachers Month:
During the kick-off ceremony, a range of activities designed to celebrate National Teachers Month
were announced:
1. "Piso Kada Puso" Activity: This initiative, skillfully facilitated by Mrs. Karen I. Zaragoza, SPG
Adviser, encourages learners to purchase paper hearts from designated collectors daily. These
paper hearts are then affixed to the picture of the teacher they hold dear. At the conclusion of the
teacher month celebration, the teacher with the most stars will be recognized as the "most loved
teacher" of Bagong Silang Elementary School.
2. "Tribute to Teacher" Mondays: At the weekly Flag Raising Ceremony every Monday, students
at each grade level will present their unique talents as a heartfelt tribute to their teachers.
3. Online Pasasalamat: An interactive activity that provides an avenue for parents and learners to
express their gratitude. Messages dedicated to chosen teachers are submitted via a Google form
and subsequently posted on the official Facebook page of Bagong Silang Elementary School.
4. "Love Box": Parents of the learner's adviser are invited to create special appreciation boxes
containing messages and tokens of gratitude for the teachers who have made a difference in their
children's lives.

These activities collectively emphasize the significance of showing appreciation and gratitude
to teachers. They create an environment where teachers are acknowledged and celebrated for their
invaluable role in molding the future of their students and the nation.
In conclusion, the Bagong Silang Elementary School's enthusiastic participation in National
Teachers Month is a testament to the deep respect and appreciation held for Filipino educators.
Through thoughtful activities and heartfelt expressions of gratitude, the school community
celebrates their teachers' dedication and unwavering commitment to nurturing young minds.
National Teachers Month serves as a reminder of the vital role teachers play in building a brighter
future for all.
