Narrative Report

The Mathematics Teachers Association of the Philippines, Inc. (MTAP, was

organized to serve as an appropriate venue for Mathematics teacher can come
together, to interact with one another, and share each other’s expertise in the pursuit
of excellence in Mathematics education. Among the projects well-known throughout
the country is the Metrobank-MTAP-DepdEd Math Challenge (MMC).

Last October 11, 2023, the Mathematics Coordinators of Bagong Silang

Elementary School conducted the School Level MTAP Selection Test here in our
school’s Annex Rooms. The activity aims to encourage learners to showcase their
mathematical skills and knowledge in a friendly yet competitive environment and to
determine the best candidates who will join the MMC (Metrobank-MTAP-DepEd Math
Challenge) elimination rounds on November 9-10, 2023.

The test was facilitated by selected grade level teachers, together with the
Mathematics Coordinators and participants from Grades 1-6 with the guidance and
support of Mrs. Maria Jovita B. Singzon, school head. All interested learners are open
to join the selection test. All learners with honors and with good performance record in
Mathematics are not required but highly encouraged to join and should register on or
before October 10, 2023 until 4:30pm to their respective Mathematics teacher to
ensure proper coordination and preparation. The test consist of 20-30 items

depending on the grade level. The questions consist of varying difficulty levels, testing
various mathematical concepts. Participants were given 50 minutes to answer the test.
After the test, the grade facilitator checked answers to identify the top three learners
per grade level who obtained the highest scores. Tie-breaker test was conducted to
grade 4, 5 and 6 the following and later on identified the learners that emerged from
the others. The winners were announced and awarded during the flag ceremony with
certificates and they will represent the school in the Division MMC Elimination Round.
Those who did not make it also receive certificate for their participation.
