Activity Title: Current Issues

Learning Target: Discuss and enumerate the different forms of kinship and evaluate the political
leadership that characterizes each organization.

Main Idea:
Kinship is a social institution that refers to relations formed between members of society. The relationships
developed in different ways. On birth or blood relations, marriage or through the acceptance of rituals. To
established political system where power structures are defined to ensure that conflicts are managed. The
task of organizing a political community requires the existence of leaders. It is important to understand how
individuals have organized themselves into social and political groups or communities.
Examples:

The Philippines is now facing the pandemic called N-Corona Virus. With this pandemic the country faces
economic crisis. Many companies closed, many are died and as of now, still we are conquering this battle.
How the government especially our president faces the mourning of his countrymen? President Duterte
tried his best to overcome this pandemic despite of his condition. He used his power and authority to
implement the different laws to assure the protection of his nation against this threat/pandemic, i.e. creating
group of people or agency to monitor and prepare a laws and programs for the safety of his countrymen,
giving the authority to the finance department to use the budget for the next year to give assistance, like
cash and groceries to every family, and also imposing the Dept. Of Education to continue the school year in
this amidst of pandemic. Let us support the programs of our President for our safety against this
pandemic.Questions/ Exercises:

Main Idea:

Economic Institutions are nonmarket institutions, market system and international trade.
Reciprocity, Transfer and Redistribution are all considered as non- market transactions since they
do not entail exchange of cash for rendering of service or provision of goods. Market system is a
type of economic system that allows the free flow of goods between and among private individuals
and firms with very limited participation from the government, i.e. private property, freedom of
enterprise and choice, self-interest, competition, markets, and prices. International Trade enables

Main Idea:
Social, cultural and political changes are triggered by either new ideas and technologies or by new people
and cultures. People have functional as well as dysfunctional ways of responding these changes. There are

Activity Title: Compilation of Issues

Learning Target: To understand the social, political and cultural issues in the contemporary time.

Main Idea:

We live in changing environment. The challenges that we face as a human community change
over time, and our tools and techniques to address these challenges change. Problems evolve
and new problems emerge, our ability to respond to these problems is altered by changing
technologies and ideas. Societies can respond to change by adapting to it in functional ways.
Change can also disrupt and destabilize society and lead to a point of conflict, tension and even
violence. Some of the issues that we are facing are Social Inequality, Gender Equality, Current
state of Indigenous Cultural Communities, and the Plight of Filipino Laborers.

Activity:

Directions: Choose at least two changes that have been discussed. Compile clippings or internet
