REFLECTION PAPER

Facilitate the following activity to a small group/class

                               THE ‘THINK POSITIVE!’ EXPERIMENT

                            (Quasi Experiment by Larissa Rzemienski)

 Hand out slips of paper to everyone in the group without them knowing                                                                   that
the contents are not the same.
o Give half of the group/class a slip/paper asking them to name the                                                               three
best events that happened to them over the past week.
o Give the other half of the class a slip/paper that asks them to list the                                                          three
worst events that happened to them during the past week.
 Ask the group/class to work on this activity quietly.
 After making their lists, ask them to rate how their week was overall on                                                                   a
scale of 1-10 (1-worst; 10-best)
 Then, share the secret that half the class received one set of papers,
while the other half received a different set.
 Ask them to shout out their overall scores on a scale of 1-10 and write them on the board                under "best"
or "worst", and look together at the differences between the sets of data.

Answer the following:

1. What did you notice in the scores of the group who recalled the worst things about
their week compared to the other group who recalled the best things?                                               Elaborate on
your answer.
2. What insights can be drawn from this experiment that can be applied in life.
Share also your own realizations.
