Normal Operation
Note: When you operate the machine, the needle valve must be in the open position. In order to open
the needle valve, turn the valve counterclockwise.

Forward Position and Reverse Position

(AA) Charge pressure
(AB) Sump
When the parking brake switch is in the OFF position, the brake valve shifts in order to allow charge
pressure (5) to flow to the brake pump. The charge pressure passes through needle valve (4) and flows
to the brakes (2). When the oil pressure disengages the brakes, the machine can move forward or
backward.

HOLD Position

(3) Oil to the return manifold
(4) Adjustable needle valve
(5) Oil to the brake valve
(AA) Charge pressure
(AB) Sump
When the parking brake switch is in the ON position, the machine is in the HOLD position. The oil drains
from the brakes (2) and passes through needle valve (4). The oil passes through the brake valve (5)
and flows to the pump case. When there is no pressure in the brakes, the brakes engage and the
machine cannot move.

Manual Brake Release

(AB) Sump
The manual brake release pump allows the brakes to be disengaged when the machine is not running.
This is useful for towing purposes.

When needle valve (4) is closed, hand pump (1) is used to supply pressure to the brakes.

Use the following procedure in order to release the brakes when the machine is not running.
1. Block the drums in order to prevent movement of the machine. The machine can roll if the drums
are not blocked.

2. Loosen the setscrew on the thumb screw for the needle valve with a 5/64 Allen wrench. Turn the
needle valve clockwise in order to close the valve.

3. Push the hand pump plunger by hand until you can no longer move the plunger.

4. In order to reapply the parking brake, turn the needle valve counterclockwise. This will open the
valve.

5. Use the 5/64 Allen wrench in order to tighten the setscrew on the thumb screw.

6. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, KEBU7514 , "Towing the Machine" for more
information.
