2015/01/06 Fuel Transfer Pump and Unit Injector Hydraulic Pump - Remove and Install (RENR8650-09)

Removal Procedure
Start By:

A. Remove the fan drive.

B. Remove the hydraulic oil cooler.

1. Time the engine to the top center for number 1 piston. Refer to Testing and Adjusting , "Finding Top
Center Position for Number 1 Piston ".

2. Remove hose (1) .

3. Remove guard (2) .

4. Disconnect hose assembly (3) and hose assembly (4) .

5. Discard the washers.

6. Disconnect dipstick (5) from plate (6) . Position the dipstick out of the way.

7. Remove bolts (7) . Position fuel filter housing (8) out of the way.

8. Remove plate (6) .

9. Remove timing cover (9) . Mark both gears for assembly alignment purposes.

10. Disconnect hose assembly (10) and hose assembly (11) .

11. Discard the washers.

12. Remove fitting (12) .

13. Discard the washers.

14. Disconnect hose assembly (13) .

15. Remove bolt (14) .

16. Disconnect tube assembly (15) .

17. Discard the washers.

18. Disconnect harness assembly (16) .

19. Disconnect harness assembly (17) .

20. Disconnect harness assembly (18) .

21. Disconnect tube assembly (19) , hose assembly (20) , and tube assembly (21) .

22. Discard the washers.

23. Remove bracket (22) .

24. Remove bolt (23) and bolt (24) .

25. Remove bolt (26) , bolt (27) , and pump (25) from the engine.

Installation Procedure
1. Time the engine to top center for number 1 piston. Refer to Testing and Adjusting , "Finding Top
Center Position for Number 1 Piston ".
Note: Top Center must be found if gears not previously marked.

Align the timing marks.

2. Install pump (25) , bolt (27) , and bolt (26) onto the engine.

3. Install bolt (23) and bolt (24) .

4. Install bracket (22) .

Install new washers.

5. Connect tube assembly (19) , hose assembly (20) , and tube assembly (21) .

6. Connect harness assembly (18) .

8. Connect harness assembly (16) .

Install new washers.

9. Connect tube assembly (15) .

10. Install bolt (14) .

11. Install fitting (12) .

12. Connect hose assembly (13) .

13. Connect hose assembly (10) and hose assembly (11) .

14. Install cover (9) .

16. Install bolts (7) . Position fuel filter housing (8) out of the way.

End By:

a. Install the hydraulic oil cooler.
