1. Raise the temperature of bearing cone (42). Install bearing cone (42) onto shaft (41).

2. Pack bearing (42) with Tooling (A).

3. Lower the temperature of bearing cup (39). Install bearing cup (39).

4. Install seal (38). Lower the temperature of bearing cup (37). Install bearing cup (37).

5. Support shaft assembly (35), as shown. Install the housing onto shaft assembly (35), as shown.
Install bearing cone (36) over shaft assembly (35). Use Tooling (B) and a suitable press to install
bearing cone (36) onto shaft assembly (35).
Use the suitable press to maintain preload on bearing cone (36). Measure the distance (X) between
the face of bearing cone (36) and the face of the groove for the retainers. Select a shim that is
between 0.1 mm (0.004 inch) and 0.2 mm (0.008 inch) more than the measurement of Dimension (X).

6. Install shim (34) that was determined from the previous step.

7. Use a suitable punch to install retainers (33).

8. Install O-ring seal (30) onto piston (31) and install piston (31). Repeat for the remaining pistons.
Install roller (32).

9. Install spacer (28). Use Tooling (A) to install retaining ring (27). Invert piston housing (27) and repeat
for the other side.

Improper assembly of parts that are spring loaded can cause

To prevent possible injury, follow the established assembly

procedure and wear protective equipment.

11. Install two seals (not shown) into the inside of housing (16). Install dowel (24). Install two seals (26)
and springs (25) onto seal housing (23). Install seal housing (23) into housing (16). Install seal (22).
Note: Dowel (24) must fall into the slot that is located in housing (16).

12. Install piston (19), spring (20), and O-ring seal (21). Install plug (17). Connect housings (16) and (18).
Install bolts (15).

13. Install housing assembly (14) and bolts (13). Install O-ring seal (12).

14. Install seal (8) onto housing (7).

15. Install housing (7) and bolts (6). Do not install discs (9) and plates (10) now.

16. Stack discs (9) and plates (10). Begin with a 2 discs (9). Clamp discs (9) and plates (10) together and
measure the thickness of the pack. Add shims (11) until the thickness of the pack measures
28.2 ± .1 mm (1.110 ± 0.004 inch).

17. Install the required amount of shims (11). Install discs (9) and plates (10). Begin with shims (11) and 2
discs (9). There are 15 discs (9) and 13 plates (10).

18. Install seals (5) onto piston (4). Install piston (4).

19. Install spring (3).

20. Install cover (2) and bolts (1).

End By:

a. Install the piston motor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Piston Motor (Hydrostatic) - Install".
